Nah dude, that was aimed at those who are saying about it being a problem.

To me it doesn't matter, its more of a healthy rivalry, doesn't make him any less of a person because of it.

I'm a jock and I play tennis regularly. whilst he may come over as a bit of an arrogant nob in interviews, his tennis is thye best played by any british player in the history of tennis.

I'm sure he's not going to piss himself if a few english punters don't back him and personally I couldn't give a shit either.

Back him or not, why not just enjoy the tennis he plays, or plays against and cheer for whoever you like. Let's face it it's not like nationality really matters in tennis is it.

How do you know he's a bellend?

Just because he doesn't stuck up to the media and produce a shiny smile after getting a camera shoved in his face after 4 hours playing tennis in 40 C heat doesn't mean he's not a decent bloke.

Maybe he's just shy and would rather concentrate on his tennis
Oooo i can answer this one,
Last year after winning one of his opening matches at Wimbledon he went to Sophies Steakhouse restaurant in Fulham with a few mates, my other half and about six other nurses happened to be in the same restaurant, one approached his table and asked for an autograph, he ignored her, when she asked again he was rude and obnoxious to her, one of his mates came over and apologised saying he's trying to focus on his next match, they mentioned they were childrens nurses and were going to put the autograph in the kids ward, his mate then went back and asked Murray for the autograph for the nurses, he still didn't sign anything though,

the guy is an ass,
As jack said earlier on facebook he's not playing tennis for great Britain, he's doing it for himself,
oh and btw if any wants to venture into any pubs in scotland/northern ireland or wales telling the locals there british then you'll probably be visiting the local A&E that night...
I've been to northern ireland many a time and as far as i'm aware the only people calling anyone from northern ireland scotland or wales british is the english.
i'd rather an English guy won it that or someone who comes across as a decent guy so i'm cheering on Federer.

Meh, take him or leave him. Would rather he l didn't win Wimbledon tbh, cos we'll never hear the end of it, ever. Rather he won one of the others.

just to clear one point up about Murray's anti English comments. They haven't just been confined to football

That was totally taken out of context. Murray was joking about when he said that. He was meant to have an interview with Henman and Des Kelly from the Mail but he was running late. As they waited Henman and Kelly talked about the upcoming football and when Murray arrived they joked about how Scotland didn't qualified. So when asked who he would be supporting he jokingly said 'anyone but England'.

Personally I don't like or dislike Murray. I want him to do well because he's a British sportsman but I must admit I hope Federer wins Wimbledon. The guy is a legend. Murray can win Wimbledon once Federer has retired.

not a nice story.

as for the bit in bold there are a few locals in Northern Ireland ( loyalists ) who are more British than the English.

I really like him. I really like him as a tennis player and isn’t that all that matters? I don’t care what he’s like in press conferences and if he isn’t the middle (upper) class darling of the press like Henman. Technically and mentally he is much better. Even if he weren’t British I would like him.

I think with an individualistic sport like tennis, people seem to want them to be more than a sportsman, to be a person they like? Why? You are never going to find someone that behaves the way you want to. As a player if you don’t like him, fine but if he says the wrong things, doesn’t smile and doesn’t look the part…fucking grow up.

I heard almost the exact same story only instead of Murray it was lineker, I think a mixture of fame and honestly hate of being asked all the time does this to you..

I can't stand him or his Mum. I like his bro tho, I'd much prefer him to win something.

I can't put my finger on why i don't like him, it's probably something to do with the hype that bubbles up every time he gets near a court. I don't go in for all this inflated hype business, it's the same when England play in a major tournament, the flags, the shirts, the affirmation from everywhere convinced that England will win. Everything like that just gets my goat.

Media really starting to annoy me regarding today's game against Roddick.

They are all predicting a walkover for Murray, personally I think its 50 / 50 today

As jack said earlier on facebook he's not playing tennis for great Britain, he's doing it for himself,.

Ofcourse he is doing it for himself, tennis is an individual sport.

The Davis cup is when players represent their country, and I think you will find that Murray does that. You will also find that Murray and Laura Robson have entered the Hopman cup, who will they be representing? Oh yeah, Great Britain.
