Ange Postecoglou has agreed to become Tottenham's new manager on a four-year contract. (updated)

The Australian, 57, has just finished his second season at Celtic, leading them to the Scottish title both years and the domestic treble this term.

See some of Celtics stats - recently played 3rd place team - at home 70% possession 20 shots - plays a very attaching 4-3-3 - im excited

It's great his principle is that of attacking football and I'm fully behind him but it's easier to do it at Celtic with the teams they play than it may be at Spurs. As long as there's a Plan B.

However, he seems a good guy and I like his manner and he deserves our support. I'm sure he'll sleep well tonight knowing that I think that.😉

I think he’s plan B is make plan A work. Heard a good interview with him that Alisdair Gold put up, the philosophy is win the ball as soon as possible and attack with it.

We've been such a mess for a few years now with narcissistic managers and dreary defensive football. We needed somebody who'll pull everything together and get the whole place on the front foot for a change and Postecoglou looks like he has plenty about him in that respect. Just hoping and praying that Levy doesn't go and pull the rug out from underneath him now.

I think we could all be set for a big surprise how well our players could become if they are given the license to attack, like finally.

I got a great account of him from a Celtic guy, whose also a mate of mine. "4 3 3, all out attack, inverted full backs, high press, relentless football, recruitment was top notch and everyone bought into him straight away "
Fuck it, let's get behind the man and see where we end up

Sure he's not many fans' first choice but at least the guy seems to have energy, and might make a refreshing change from the sulky narcissists we have had recently.
Looking forward to a new dawn - all the best Ange

It will be an interesting pre season especially with a squad that needs trimming down and for those that will fit into the style of play who are due back from loan like Udogie, Gill and Spence.

I reckon Ange will have a few players in mind that will be within Levy’s budget so it will be a win win. In a likely 4-3-3 the squad will quickly adapt. Bring in a new GK (Raina would be great) and sort out the CBs and sell or just terminate the likes of Winks & Ndombele’s contracts: that will be a decent window to start his tenure.

Also thinking a fit Bissouma in a more advanced position could work a treat as well as Deki being fully fit and also when Bentancur comes back (he is easily forgotten about, he will be such a crucial player for us).

Trying not to be too optimistic but it will not take a lot with what we’ve got. It’s been said for years, the defence needs sorting.

Mugs like you love supporting mediocrity, why are you getting so defensive? As you say, we‘re already rubbish again, after several years of competing for top 4, and now we‘re signing 4th choice managers because nobody with any sort of reputation wants to work for Levy. But yeah, projects, philosophies, etc etc…..more of the endless same BS.

You have no idea how rubbish we‘re going to be next year. We‘re going to get spanked by at least 4 goals in 3 or 4 games, if all this new guy knows how to do is attack. Naive and ridiculous to think otherwise.
You're leaping to a lot of assumptions here mate.
What makes you so sure he was 4th choice manager, he's been linked from the very start.

As as for you second paragraph, you also have no idea "how rubbish we're going to be".
None of us know how this will go but if you actually look into Postecoglu, he's got a lot more about him than you seem to suggest.

Just because you appear to be wallowing in doom and despair, doesn't mean that anyone who isn't is wrong.

Heard it all a million times before. Enjoy mid table mediocrity and a new manager being hired within 2 years.

Rinse, repeat.

Well, only time will tell but I personally don't think it can be much worse than the last year (or four) has been.

A bit of stability and a fresh attacking approach, if you can't take some hope out of that then I feel sorry for you.
We're going into a new season, hopefully with some new faces and clearing out some of the old ones, yet you seem certain that it's going to fail straight away.

If that's how you choose to support the team, well, it's not really support is it?

I'll be honest, I think you're just a troll really, especially looking back at some of your previous form.

You're hating on Ange but said this about Gattuso...
Much better option than Fonseca.
Which makes me think...

This will be exciting. Get ready for Ange's style of football. (opposite to ConteBall).

I know there are a lot of doubters, but lets see if he can win you over given time .

Didnt want Ange but I don't see it being the shit show some are predicting. If he plays to the strengths of our squad I think he will have a decent first season and get us back in Europe.

2-year contract. That’s not a massive vote of confidence is it? I think from that you can see he wasn’t first choice.

Hopefully we’ll all be pleasantly surprised. It’s difficult to judge what success really means up in Scotland.
