I just don't feel this one getting over the line for whatever reason. I hope we get Fati, but yet again only if there is an option or obligation. I wouldn't be too happy if we do all the leg work for barca to get him back to full strength

For us to even bring in another non home grown we need to move on four of the following:

Lloris
Dier
Reguilon
Sanchez
Hojbjerg
Lo Celso
N’Dombele

Is that likely? It’s an awful lot of work that’s for sure. Can’t see us closing the Fati deal until four of those have gone.

As Fati is only 20 I don't know if the HG situation applies to him as he wouldn't have to be registered.

Happy to be corrected on this though

Might just get us through a season, and who knows - he might fall in love with us here.

I wouldn’t think that Lloris will be on the books, for whatever reason or scenario, next season.

Loan deals can be wrapped up pretty quickly I believe. We probably have some loan offers on hold for many of the above while we try and get permanent offers.

-Dier being linked to the two big German clubs
-We have been rejecting offers for Sanchez
-Lloris and Ndombele being awkward to move on but could see Saudi being an option for both if still here at the window end.
-Reguilon seems to have a few suitors, as does Hojbjerg.

I'm pretty confident we get at least 4 of those listed out, more so on loan than permanent deals though!

I don't see us taking him on loan without an option. Only personal opinion but seems a bit mad and don't think DL would go for that.

Really interesting. Both Fati and Johnson are good finishers, as is Son. I can see an evolution of Ange’s front line where there is a nominal number 9 but all 3 front players interchange. As long as we still maintain the width, any of those forward options would work in any of the front 3 spots.
Thats what I am hoping for

I don't think we should entertain a loan deal without an option. That leaves us with the downside risk of further injury troubles and potentially not transitioning well to the PL and Barca with the upside potential if he does really well and stays injury free.

I would be fine with a relatively high (but reasonable) option clause, but it definitely needs to be in there.

I'll be very happily surprised if he picks us over Liverpool or even agrees to leave Spain. Hell of a talent and the injury might be over and done with from what I've heard.

Yeah thats a loose loose for me. Would be very disappointed if that is what happens. He's not at a stage where he would improve our first 11 enough just to be a straight loan. Ether he turns back into the player he was and then Barca ether don't sell him or raise his price to beyond our means or he is a wash out and we have waisted x amount on wages. Obvious the second option could happen anyway but at least if we have an option we can control the situation if he does improve. Essentially we would have waisted time developing a player that wont be here next season. Id rather give that time to Gil who we actually own, yes he might also be a flop but at least we will have given him a proper chance.

We are not a club that should be developing talent for other teams. A veteran on loan who can help fill a role I understand, but a young player needing to recover form and be given patience and time makes no sense.

If you are a portly chap is it humorously ironic to get his name on the shirt ....asking for a friend:whistle::(
