Because he's exactly that: a former wonderkid who isn't the same player anymore, no matter what people remember from before his injury or on Fifa, or by reputation alone.

As I said though, if we get him I'll back him like all our players.
he's 20 years old.... he featured in 50 games for one of the biggest clubs in the world and won the league last season. your definition of wonderkid seems pretty unrealistic if he isnt.

Is it not bad enough that In the recent past we've signed a lot of deadwood? Are we now signing crocked deadwood?

Ansu Fati tells Sevilla that he is going to Tottenham

❗️ The striker's father wanted to see him play for Sánchez Pizjuán but the player opted for the Premier League

🤝 All that remains is for the two clubs to agree on the transfer

I believe gbsans the writer is considered very highly for Barca news

Sounds good. Just hope no other team comes in for him.

He still was pretty damn good last season AFTER his injury in limited minutes so I still don't really understand what there is to lose.
I watched him a lot last season. He isn't the explosive, pacy winger / wide forward he used to be. We can agree to disagree. Let's hope the gamble pays off.

Why are people talking about Fati or Johnson when clearly the prerogative is obtaining both?!
That’s not what I got from Fab’s latest update tbh. Decision in next 24h makes it sound to me that we’ve lined both deals up, or are lining them up, and will trigger one of them

Can we stop debating one or the other, we want both! I'm not sure where the 'If you had to pick only one' debate has come from. If we do the deals we want to do, we will sign Fati on loan with an option, Johnson on a permanent and another CB. We have several to shift still but the club is still very positive. A very big 24 hours coming up where we need to line up as much of this as possible before heading into the last day.
Yep as we have both stated we want both and are trying to conclude both

Regardless of his injury issues, I do hope this is our version of Odegaard from Madrid as a former wonderkid who perhaps didn’t manage to showcase their full potential at a gigantic club.

if it’s a loan with an option for fati or 50m for johnson it has to be fati

not only is it more financially viable, he also has a track record of end product at the highest level that brennan johnson does not

We can afford both. We are not paupers!

Watched some of his highlights from last season and you can see why Ange likes him. Seems very adept in combination play, is press resistant and can finish with both feet. Whilst not as explosive as pre-injury still seems able to beat a man, even though being more of an inside forward than a traditional winger.

Plays for Barcelona so will be used to playing against low block sides too.

Will always be viewed as a gamble with his injury but could easily become our starting LW. Maybe with Son at ST they could even rotate mid game to really give defenders a headache.

Good to hear. We need a centre back and nothing really happens on the last day anymore, so today and tomorrow must be key.

A front 3 of Fati, Son, and Johnson would be very exciting.

Shades of that famous Liverpool attack who were so dynamic and fun to watch.

I hate when this thread is bumped.

I have to tell myself 10 times - "NO NDOMBELE JOKES!"

I don't have that kind of self control...

Seriously though, after last night - send Lo Celso to Barça, and bring the Fati over here.

Ideally with an option, but if not, then send Lo Celso over without an option as well, and hope that playing for Barcelona sparks a bidding war next summer.

I said it already but it really wasn't long ago that he was in that same wonderkid bracket as Pedri, Gavi, Bellingham, Musiala, Camavinga, Tchouameni, etc.

If we can get the loan with a favourable option then it'll be a real coup.
