I mean, seems quite clear that we've been prioritising Johnson above Fati, and Fati was just some opportunistic thing since Barca realised they can't sign Cancelo without getting some money in. So I take this situation to be either:
1) Levy tried to squeeze more out of a deal in some way last minute and Barca and Fati said “fuck it. Let’s have a year on the beach”
2) spurs and Levy were played by Barca and Fati
3) Levy was lining up something bigger and better in the shadows and is about to pull the trigger
4) was all media speculation all along and ITKs got caught up in The crossfire.

I personally think it’s 1 or 2. Both of which, regardless of intent, equally pathetic and leave us fucked if true. If it’s 3 then fair plays my Bessie Danny L.

Although I agree with this, I’m also relaxed about the situation and willing to be patient.

Ange has us going in a very good direction and the most important thing is that we use the Kane money well, not simply that we use it. I’d rather we keep our powder dry and wait for the right deal than engage in panic buys for the sake of the optics.

The key test will be how Levy backs Ange over the next two to three windows, not just the next two days.

But, and i'm absolutely no lover of Levy as you all know, if the condition that he insisted on was having an Option then I can't necessarily apportion blame to him on this one - especially if Brighton were obliging on the parameters Barcelona set.

I think Johnson and a CB is the absolute minimum that would be acceptable at this point for me.

If we can get those 2 then at least we're fairly covered and have actually done something in the final few weeks of the window, even if it's pretty unspectacular.

If we don't get some kind of forward and a CB and go into the season with Sanchez or worse as 3rd choice then Levy has fucked it given Kane was sold weeks ago.

Why are people surprised about Levy though, it’s like a massive body of evidence for this kind of thing. It’s always hard shifting deadwood when it’s £££ before ⚽️⚽️
