But he literally did that last year with the same club when we signed lenglet. There is no logic to this clubs madness.

Surely anybody at the club working on the deal would know that Levy would never sign off on any deal that didn't include an option to buy. Unless I'm picking it up wrong but that seems to be what the ITK suggests happened.

Indeed, that's my understanding too.

More's the point though, thank God Lenglet didn't come with an oligation to buy.

So to clarify, here he's "cost us"...loaning Ansu Fati for 10m+ for a year, and having no right to buy the player at all. A player that was only on the cards a few hours ago, that even then half the posters here had no interest in on those terms, and that Barca are happy to get rid of after he's not the same player after his knee issues?
……….and……..?

Of course the most truly offensive and upsetting part of all of this is that “dry loan” now appears to be a thing.
I wasted a good "hope we haven't gone in dry on a fati" joke earlier in this thread to no fanfare whatsoever, hoping that this deal didn't happen on those terms. Fully embracing the terminology 💪

I’m soo f*cked off this has collapsed.. more so because it sounds as though it’s Levy’s fault!

I wonder if the details of the deal will be disclosed, if there was a buy option I’ll be even more p*ssed off! 🤬

They aren't in the business of trying to develop their own talent. Their loans are typically for established players.

If we are truly trying to develop our own pipeline of kids then bringing in a 20yo who we don't control just to have him play over another kid we do own makes no sense.

Brighton aren’t in the business of developing their own talent?

This isn’t some hopeful 20 year old looking for his first minutes. He’s a CL level performer for right now.

Which youth starlet would Fati be blocking minutes for?

Our best talent in his position is 16 year old Mikey Moore.

The truth is Levy looks at every signing as an opportunity to buy low sell high. Rather than the building blocks of a cohesive team.

He’s tried to exert leverage he didn’t have, and it’s cost us yet again.

...And so what's the cost? Literally nothing in financial terms. And what else? Nobody has any idea how he'll do, many were skeptical as fuck due to his knee injuries and Barcelona being happy to shift him, and even if he's good he goes back to Barca so they can sell him?

We've already signed Solomon, for better or for worse. We also have Gil. We also have Yago. How many young wingers do we want to block to rehab this player for Barca?

Fully expecting a season in transition, personally, but rampantly clear that nobody else is.

This is one of the best takes I've read in my 10+ years on this forum. The unfounded criticism of Levy in every aspect undermines the real problems with Levy and as such neither gets taken seriously. If you post 30 times a day slagging off Levy and five of those are justified reasons, no ones gonna take it seriously, as they've already read 25 posts of you unfairly blaming Levy for everything.

I've noticed the ones most in uproar about this deal collapsing, are the ones that were in uproar about there being no option on the deal. So the narrative changed from "I can't believe Levy's gonna train and develop a Barca player with no option, so much for the four year plan and supporting Ange, this is just another opportunistic club signing". To, "I can't believe Levy's been beaten to a deal by Brighton, we've fallen so far that we're below Brighton in the pecking order, he would've improved our team, even for just a year".

As much as I want Levy and ENIC out of the club, this sort of reaction to any bad news is not helpful. This will no doubt get neg repped by the usual suspects, but rather than bashing away on their keyboards and slowly eroding away their L-E-V and Y keys, they should listen to the people who are actively trying to effect change at the club.
I 100% agree with you, but if you are expecting thoughtful debate, you aren't going to get a lot of it. Not with 2 days left in the window, anyway. Potentially a week after, when people have calmed down a bit.

The most followed posters on here are largely Anti-levy, including the majority of the Mods and all the ITK (Again, 100% entitled to their opinion too, and it's often nuanced, and measured). It's causes a bit of feeding frenzy in here, and people are itching to have something to jump on to have the latest moan - again often justified, as it's often a mess.

Issue is, though It often might well be justified, it's also tiring when every positive discussion point ends up twisted to a pro Levy stance, to springboard the next wave of negativity to drag us back to miserable again. It's rinse and repeat in almost all the threads at the mo.

There is no buy option, which is clearly why he's gone there.

Can’t believe it needs pointing out to an actual Spurs fan. But we haven’t sold our captain. Kane wasn’t the club captain.

How the hell do you not know that?

Lloris has been off since June and it was fairly clear from the preseason friendlies that Kane would have been our captain this season had he stayed. Semantics, of course, but point still very much stands in that he was our best player, talisman and (future) captain.

Oh Fati Fati,
He's only got one knee,
That's too ambitious for Levy,
Oh Fati Fati..
Oh Fati Fati,
He plays for de Zerbi,
Where ambition cost money,
Oh Fati Fati

The hatred stems from 2 decades of him ballsing up deals lol.

In all seriousness though even signing him on a straight loan would have been worth it! He’s a CL level player already and would have chipped in with some goals and assists!
