But you know if we’d have signed him on a straight loan there would have been equal amounts of complaining about us developing other teams players.
This!

Barca don’t want to lose this guy. They’ve made that pretty clear.

We’d have a season and then he’d go.

When I went to bed last night the consensus was:

screw Levy, what's the point in a loan with no option.

I wake up to:

Damn it Levy, you fucked it up (by not doing a loan with no option)

Indeed. Some people need to get a grip. Let’s criticise Levy for the the things he actually gets wrong and not the things he actually does right.

Same thing every year mate.

Rile everyone up, then make Levy the enemy.
Yep has been happening for years and years. Romano has said there was no deal in place with Tottenham.
The conditions are undesirable and it’s obvious why spurs didn’t pursue it further.

I'd like to hear more...aside from the stadium. A highly desirable asset and project that he successfully masterminded and promised significant investment on the field.....to which we've yet to see him strengthen in a transfer window.......I'm all for it, what things has he actually done right, in your opinion?

So serious question: Does the Levy fan club still support him? I bet they do and will be out fighting his case even if we don't sign anyone!
This is why he will never leave the club as he gets away with EVERYTHING!

This thread reminds me of those videos where the kid gets the wrong iPhone for Christmas and goes apoplectic.

I’m all for criticising Levy (there’s plenty to go at). However, deciding to not helping Barca develop a player isn’t one of them.
I agree to a point but why did we even waste any effort if Levy had no intention off signing him? Just another excuse to say we TRIED.
Wonder who today's we tried player is? How gullible are we all to believe Levy has any intention of spending the Kane money?
Had enough of our owners and chairman!!

If it turns out Brighton have a right to buy, then yeah, let’s get the pitch forks out.

Or if we don’t get Johnson. Until then I’ll hold fire.

It’s a shame though, was quite excited by him

Exactly. He has his faults and think we all agree it’s time for a change, but if an obligation wasn’t on the table then I don’t blame us for not pursuing it.
A lot could still happen of course….

The ITK said we only wanted an option or obligation, other outlets suggested Barca wanted no option. Brighton have given Barca and probably Fati what they want which is a potential long term at Barca.

I don't want a player just on loan, what's the point? He comes good and the star of the team and then what next year? Lenglet was different to getting Fati on loan.

Still wanted him and want him but we really cannot be replacing our highest ever goalscorer with a loan with no long term option inserted, that's a huge and unacceptable step back.

Sign Johnson, another top CB for depth and move into the season ahead now

I completely understand Barca's preference for a loan with no option, so they control Fati's future. What I don't get is how the player himself can speak to Ange and be convinced to come to Spurs, before flipping instead to Brighton. If he really wants Spurs he can just tell Barca that he only wants to come here and say no to Brighton.

What it points to is that Fati doesn't actually want to leave. He's being pushed out to help their wage bill, but he and Barca both hope he will rediscover his best form and return to playing for them the next season.
