I'm more interested in the other non homegrown target piece of itk.

Because then the Martial stuff makes sense. Even if we scrapped all the dead wood, it still leaves us only 2 spots. Possibly for a cm and CB.

After sissoko, llorente,Janssen, nkoudou and maybe dembele, we really don't have any non hg to scrap (ignoring keeper thing).
Well there is clearly an ITK discrepancy going on here. Ghostfarmo on us trying for a croat forward would also conflict with AliZ's nonHG priority unless Ghost is wrong about the position. I tend to find Ghostfarmo is pretty accurate so *shrug*.

The club probably has numerous targets and possible combinations of Hg/Non Hg. There will be a lot of noise incoming this week.

I'm agreeing with what they are saying in regards to the transfer window, should it stay as it is.

I think this has been the overriding theme of your posts, but it seems to go under the radar for some.

Odd to hear all summer Utd won't include Martial, and we have been insisting on it, to now Utd want to trade, and we're holding off. Something must've changed both ends, so Martial's awol act had perhaps forced Utd's stance, but what's changed ours, juggling HG spots, maybe this ties in with Grealish not being first choice, there's someone else non HG infront of him. Depending on the calibre of said player, unknown at this point, but adding Grealish and Martial would definitely seem like a good window. Can only assume we want straight cash so as to go after Zaha, freeing up another quota spot.

I think there is a real frustration with this one as majority of fans realise that Martial is a class player that immediately helps our 1st eleven as wide forward, can cover for Harry up top and still has massive potential with Poch as coach.

Last season there were a few games where we were failing to open up teams, so Eriksen would be shifted back to receive the ball more centrally, and it would work well.

With a 433, I think Eriksen fills that creative roll in the center quite well. As such, we lose him as a winger and need an additional one (Zaha or Martial). Because of that, I don’t think a creative CM is as desperate a need as some are making it out to be.

Completely agree. Lamella or Alli could also drop deeper and create from deep if need be. Martial is dynamic and would be first team instantly.

Martial is a far stronger backup for Kane up front as well.

No way do we not sign Martial because it would mean a useless player on wages being out of the squad.

Poch and Levy are not idiots. You can loan Janssen out and take a hit on him.

Janssen would score loads in the Championship.

Im delighted that AM is once again linked, less than impressed if we wont sign him because of a couple of non playing dudes. I'm wondering if this could mean anything else in a different context. It would be ludicrous for us to turn him down especially as it means a problem player going the other way, who isn't HG either.
Edit:Could I just check, HG basically means English?

Could someone explain why the HG thing is now such an issue. Arsenal have bought 5 non HG players this summer as well as letting Wilshere go. They can’t have the full quote of HG surely?? Liverpool have bought 4 non HG players and sold a couple of HG. Why does it seem (apparently) to be hindering us so much? Thanks in advance to anyone who can be arsed to explain it as it’s probably already been explained several times elsewhere.

If Utd really are softening on the swap that's promising.

Only way Ali Z info doesn't make sense is if despite everyone ITK saying otherwise, money is indeed an issue.

Poch may want a CM but the suggestion was we wanted and budgeted for a winger and a CM.

There is no HG quota. A team can register zero home grown players if they want, or they can register 25.

The limits that apply to a PL squad are:
a) a maximum of 25 players who were over the age of 21 on 1st January 2018.
b) a maximum of 17 players who were not registered with any club in England or Wales for at least 3 years before their 21st birthday.

We started last season with 16 non-HG players over the age of 21. Since then, Sanchez has turned 21, we signed Lucas and we've sold nobody. So we now have 18.

For CL, we need to sell or loan VJ, GKN, Toby, llorente and sissoko to free up two non HG spots for a cm and fwd (we are three over). Other options of course are to sell dembele and/or one of the keepers.

Or we could hope for some early long term injuries (like lamela last season) so we could decline to register those players.

Funn thing is we seem to still be poking around for a Croatian fwd so this suggests that we are prepared to loan sell enough players to make space. So maybe this itk needs some salt.
