Makes sense for Dier but Davies not being homegrown is crazy. Whilst Swansea may technically be in another country they play under the English FA so he should he treated as home grown
Problem is that until Davies was 19 Swansea and Cardiff were actually registered with the Welsh FA, not the English one. Which means any players that came through their youth systems at that time are counted as Welsh rather than English trained by UEFA. Anybody coming through there now would be English (and Swansea/Cardiff would also be counted as English if they qualified for Europe), but Davies was a year too early.

I think the issue is in CL because Davies and Dier are non HG.
Even so considering Toby is going, possibly Dembele and we had Llorente, Sissoko and Gazzaniga registered I don't buy it as a reason not to buy a non HG who'd improve our squad massively at all.
Still don't understand why the rules are the way they are. Dier and Davies being non home grown in the CL is mental. But them the rules...

I was not aware that Dier and Davies didn't count. Dier is English and Davies came from a Premier League club. How daft.

I'd sooner see Vorm leave - he is at the end of his career, no doubt on higher wages, and apparently is susceptible to the squits when we really need him.
Fine with me, one of them needed to leave yesterday.

Dier played his youth career in Portugal, and Davies in Wales. It's irrelevant what your nationality is (e.g. Fabregas is home grown).

The issue is that there is a Welsh FA and an English FA, and leagues for each - but Davies was at a team that blurs the lines and falls short of the UEFA definition.

Gazza has done nothing to show me he can't be our #2, don't know why we gave Vorm a new deal tbh.

Chat over on COYS that the swap with Toby might finally be happening. It’s via info from another site so no idea how accurate it is. One of the posters on COYS seems to think it’s legit though.

The agents bong bong drums are suggesting that the manure have finaly relented and are now going to let Martial join us after all..in which case, it looks like a swap, with Toby getting his move to the shitshow that is Moroniho..

It's brinkmanship of the first order, but if it happens, Levy/our board will have faced them down.

I'm still skeptical, but one agent who's looking to be part of the knock on effect is adamant the impasse has been broken.

Surprising someone like Burnley didn't come in for Vorm if they were that desperate for a keeper they'd choose Head & Shoulders - it's not like they have HG issues.
Don't know why we renewed his contract if HG was truly this big of an issue.

United will never sell to us.

Unfortunately your absolutely correct. Utd have already said that they would not sell to us as they see us a rival. Unfortunately we haven't reached the level where we can say no to our rivals. Case in point being Kyle Walker. Man City wanted him and he wanted City's money. I'm hoping that with our new stadium we can reach a financial level that will help us compete and not lose players so easily. ??❤

Yeah I'm aware of that. I get it more so with Dier, despite him being English, but Davies is just a weird one. Does it coun for the Welsh sides like Swansea and Cardiff if they get into Europe.

Interestingly enough, after seeing today's ITK I put a fiver on Martial to come to us as he was at 7/1.

Just checked again now, and it's out to 10/1. I might not be seeing that fiver again, if that's any indication of how it's actually going to go.

Hear he hasn't traveled to Germany or wherever with the Utd squad, so assume United think he's off somewhere?

Maybe - would have to look at what happened a few seasons ago with Swansea - didn't Laudrup get them in Europe after winning a cup?

Didn't Vorm recently sign a 1 year contract extension? Because of this Levy was probably looking for about £20m for him...
