I think there's more chance of Bale coming back than this happening.

Utd have no incentive to sell Martial to us. They don't need the money, and the player is under contract, so we have literally zero leverage in this situation.

The player wants out and the manager doesn't rate/trust him. True they can suffer the loss on principle but they are still a business too.

Martial now has two real options, try and agree a new deal with assurances on playing time, or push for a move via transfer request. Last nights quotes suggest the latter is much more likely this time.

Bale’s not going to happen either but theres probably more of a chance that it will than Martial happening. Personally, I rate it as 0.0000001% chance of Bale happening and 0% chance of Martial happening.

I love how keeping our options open and not giving up on Martial in mid-June means we are nailed on for Rondon on deadline day :ROFLMAO:

So many top talents wste their careers with moves like his to United... If he had come to Spurs he would now be a superstar!
As much as we'd love to think he would have become a superstar, let's not fool ourselves here as there's no guarantee of success for any player. Especially forwards, just have to look at Janssen, Llorente, N'Koudou, N'Jie to name just a few recent additions in that department that haven't delivered for us. Maybe these guys weren't Martial's level to begin with but we wouldn't have signed them if we didn't think they had potential to contribute more than they have

yup. now he's come out and said he wants out he needs to follow it up with a severe case of the grumps or he'll just be made to stay until his contract runs out or is sold abroad somewhere.

Chances are hes sold abroad, IMO. 70/30 on that and new contract.

The headline:

Anthony Martial is part of Manchester United plans for next season

But in the story... 'sky sports understands'

No actual details where this info came from!

Or swap willian at Chelsea if conte stays. They are interested and I could see that as more likely.
Nah. Chelsea are still a rival to them. 1 year off winning the title, ffs. 1 down year doesnt change that. The reason the Mkhtaryan/Sanchez swap happened is because Arsenal are decidedly nowhere near them.

Maureen is a tosser but he has been proved right with Mkhtaryan who has done nothing at Arsenal.

He wasn’t forced to sign the contract
Why wouldn't he? his club were looking to sell and get some money in and Manchester United wanted to buy him so what was he supposed to do say no thanks I want Spurs or nowhere? He would have signed for us and been our player if we could have met the price, we couldn't so it was us that dropped out not him.
I am absolutely convinced that if we could agree a fee with United he'd be here like a shot and he's made it clear that he doesn't see his future at United through his agent so I'm not sure what else he's supposed to do.

If we go down the latter route, its our own fault and deserve to end up scrambing for Rondon. United has been steadfast on not selling to a rival. Why would they do so now? They are not us. They are not willing to sell to a rival like we are. We are idiots to be chasing this.
There is a difference between Spurs deserving it organizationally and us as fans wanting or deserving it. I do think you have to chase some gambles at our budget to try and get a deal. The problem we've had in the past is we chase them right up until deadline day. I hope Herc's info indicates a wake up call on that but I do still and will until proven otherwise have doubts.
