Eh? United are determined to sell Martial but the manager wants him to stay? That makes no sense. Or am I reading this wrong.

Nope mate, your comprehension skills are bang on. That is, by deifinition, a nonsensical post from @ManUtdMEN

I think it's riddled with spelling mistakes. Perhaps it's meant to say not instead of now as in they are determined to not allow him to leave

I know he's a great, young player, but we brought in Lucas Moura to play that line-breaking role we're missing, and we're having a hard enough time accommodating his spot in the team.

I don't think Martial should be a priority; Son is already a gun for us.
I don’t really think we can count on Son this season tbh

Just played WC then has another competition in August and the Asia games in jan.

He’s going to need a break and then a preseason before he’s back in any sort of capacity with us.

Says Jan here
http://www.the-afc.com/competitions/afc-asian-cup/

Im sure the September one is a U23 competition
Asia Games is a U23 comp - but they allow 3 overage players. Son will be one of those players.

Spurs were not required to release Son for Asia Games - not an official FIFA senior event on calendar. Assumption is that Spurs agreed to release Son in August, and SK agreed not to call up Son in January. (But it might just be that Spurs are giving Sonny his last chance to earn an exemption, and he still might get called up to Asia Cup in January.)

If this CR7 to Juve insanity is actually real, the amount of money and wages that Juve will have tied up in the underwear model will surely eliminate them from the competition for Martial, if history is a guide and looking at how they did business during the two summers in which they paid the 90M fee for Higuain (and essentially resorted to a bunch of loan-to-buy and installment deals). I had been wondering why it was taking so long for them to get a relatively inexpensive Darmian deal over the line. I think they are going to have to trim to avoid serious issues. The silly season rumours about Higuain to Chelsea for 100M (and Rugani to just about everyone for a range of prices) in the past few days are possibly an early indication of that.

FWIW, I think the same is true for De Ligt, which could explain the lack of movement on the De Ligt to Juve rumour. Doubt that Ajax is interested in a loan-to-buy.

I do wonder if the latest ITK could be related to Martial. Man United returned to training today, and leave for America on Sunday - so its possible, that Jose does not want the distraction.

Of course, we play United in the 3rd week, so I would expect United to hold Martial to the last possible moment, even if we were going to do a deal...

I'm not sure why Herc would be cryptic about Grealish. After all, It's public knowledge we are interested and have made our interest known to him and Villa. So, if it were him, I'd imagine it'd be a ok with to be more specific... Eg: Grealish deal progressing. Can't see how that would cause any consternation. Hence, why i think this might have to do with someone else and they want to keep things under wraps. Then again, i dont know squat!! Could very well be jacky boy!! ?

Think this one just comes down to - are United actually ready and willing to keep him? Even if he’s very unhappy and potentially disruptive? If so then we’ve got no chance. If they’re just posturing, our position seems to be improving.

I don't think he's being cryptic, so much as he's not putting his neck on the line to say "done deal." Don't blame any ITK for that after the Willian debacle.

Oh yeah, I'm totally get that and im certainly not asking him or any other in the know to be more blunt. I was simply speculating if it might not be something obvious.
As for the Willian situation and Duff before that, I'm too long in the tooth to ever believe something is done until announced by the club. Regardless, I'm curious to learn what Herc was excited about!!

With Ronaldo to Juve on the brink of completion, surely Utd are running out of non-PL suitors for Martial? Juve were certainly the strongest media link previously.

Bayern or PSG possibly if there are significant outgoings, but no guarantees he'd be their top target.

Can't see PSG unless Neymar leaves which I can't imagine happening after last years fiasco. Can definitely see Bayern, however they are super crowded in the attacking midfield with Thiago, James, Muller, Coman, Ribery, and Robben... not to mention fitting Gnabry in there somewhere. I know Robben and Ribery will be gone soon enough but they're still there currently and thats a lot of mouths to feed for a player who is wanting more playing time.
