Does he tend to play on the left, or cut in from the right? If we do indeed tie up Lamela and Eriksen, this guy would seem a bit of a 'luxury' considering we have bigger gaps at left back and striker? But then I haven't seen him play so what do I know?

He can play at all three positions behind the striker. Can play on the left as a traditional winger or one that floats central, can play on the right and cut in on his favored left and I've seen him play centrally for extended periods of the match. He plays primarily on the left for Real Sociedad. But, he's very versatile and would fit very well with a squad that appears to be preaching versatility.

I was out for a day and so much stuff to process now holy shit!

I don't think he'll want to leave but if we somehow get him I'll love Bale for leaving us. Lamela and Griezmann in the same team would be so amazing and fun to watch.

And If we can add some good Soldado back-up and LB...

Going to Arsenal mania to see how much in denial they are atm.

Would be so much better than Willian, if we could get him I think we would have better attacking options than any team in the Prem.

I was saying the other day that he was as good as Willian attack wise as he excels in either a lw role or as an am/orchestrator, but that he can also play second striker and scores more goals. I thought Willian tended to track back more and help out his left back, but watching him against Lyon the other might he showed a lot of maturity and intelligence to drop back deep at times to help out the defence. Maybe with Illarramendi gone he is seeing a few more situations that need support and where he didn't need to before. Either way he is showing maturity beyond his years and at 22 would be a great signing who when looking at how he's progressed the last couple of years only looks like he's going to keep getting better
Lets hope we can do a deal but with the qualified for the CL's it won't be easy

Utd have two World Class strikers in RVP and Rooney.

Chelsea have an array of attacking talent.

We would be right up there, but as others have said an injury to Soldado and we could struggle a little.

As would United if RVP got injured. Granted the Manchester clubs have more depth in the CF positions but if we got Griezeman to add to Lamela, Townsend, Lennon and Chadli they don't have our depth and quality either side of this. If Soldado got injured and we haven't shifted out Defoe/Ade for a replacement then I could see us playing with Griezeman at CF.

Isn't as simple as him buying himself out of his contract as Kondogbia seems to be doing at Sevilla to move to Monaco ?

Utd wouldn't struggle as Rooney would play there with Kagwa off him.

I'm not arguing that we would be well placed, i'm just asying that we don't have the options of Utd, Chelsea or even City.

I'd probably think I'd died and woke up in heaven (if we were to sign Griezmann). :wideyed:
One of my own personal top 5 favourite footballers in the world, ATM.
I don't see us getting him this window, seems a bit too luxurious of a purchase on top of everyone we
already signed (plus 1 or 2 we're currently hopefully signing), but perhaps in Winter (if/when Sociedad fall out of CL)?

PS. BTW, Snarf's Hazard comparison to Antoine G. was pretty accurate, imho.

I doubt it,first he has a big regard for Sociedad for the way they have helped him develop so he wouldn't force a move, second he may want to stay and compete in the CL this season, third buy out clauses in Spain are only relevant to other Spanish clubs and even then they can be hostile and force the player to buy out his contract which then adds big tax costs

I think we would need a deal that ensured the player andthe club were happy with it

So much prefer him to Eriksen.

Eriksen is a CM/CAM (to be more exact he's a trequartista - playmaker type), whereas Griezmann is a Wide Forward (who can play either flank), or fill in as a striker (if necessary).
Even though Eriksen can (and at times) does play the left wing, he is a natural as a creative attacking midfielder who plays centrally.
They are two different players in most respects.

You're probably right, brother.
Although considering the positively unreal nature of our transfer summer so far, it probably won't be an absolute shock to my nervous system if we did buy both.
However, if we could only buy 1 remaining player (regardless of tactical need and/or position), and it was down to a choice between Eriksen & Griezmann, then yes, I'd take Griezmann any day without question.

I had to look this guy up because I just don't know players yet.

My first thought "we're signing Ewan McGregor?"
Second thought: "He and Lamela have the same haircut."
My reaction after watching a couple of YouTube videos of him:

Holy crap, that kid has a wonderful first touch and his left foot seems pretty special. Granted that's only off videos, but that's all I got to go on.

Well, that, and the opinions of my fellow yids here at SC :D

Would bloody love him. Great young talent and fits AVB's ethos.

Plus everybody knows the best left wingers are Welsh or French.
