It's like a curse on this club, that trait we have where, no matter the quality of players at the manager's disposal, there's just zero winning mentality!!

No cohesion or composure up front. Need to give them 15 minutes and change it if they don't improve. The players are good enough but have to show more.

All in all not a very good first half but i do expect a reaction in the second half. We have plenty of options from the bench, I’m sure Jose will fix it.

TBH, we should be despatching such teams even with this XI. The fact that we are now 1-0 down and may called on the need for Hojbjerg and Kane to come on is embarrasing.

Only 1 goal conceded by British teams in this round of European fixtures, it just had to be us didn't it.

The one who is concerning me, in particular, is Bergwijn. He's looked someway off it this season. I don't know whether he's fully fit or not, but it looks like he's lost half a step of speed and mobility. Giving the ball away a fair bit so far and hasn't been able to beat his marker all half, one-on-one.

Saying all of that, he isn't exactly alone in looking below par in this match.
It's his passing, shooting and decisions that concern me. I can
Definitely isnt fit, got outpaced by a 35 year old.
I assuming that's the truth but if true then he shouldn't be starting along side a unfit Bale and Dele who will also be lacking match fitness

Didn’t realise Burnley were in the Europa league this season, and playing in white. Lucky there are no fans in the stadium otherwise they’d have neck ache watching us constantly punt the ball high and long.

I actually think bale has been ok, but some of the play in the final third is really very poor (Vinicius aside).

The problem is with lo celso and winks are full backs can't push up and it leaves us very narrow.

I commented before the game that I was concerned about not having a ball winner in the midfield, it creates an atmosphere of fear going forward.

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of players don't seem to be backing themselves. There were quite a few times when players like Alli, Bergwijn, Winks, etc hesitated when they saw someone making a run, and decided to play it safe. Then when they did make risky passes or shot they lacked conviction.

I can only assume that's down to lack of game time.

some of you need to get of Bergwijn’s back, he’s a very good and talented player, don’t be a prisoner of the moment

He hasn’t played much + had a injury

Four subs at half time, has that ever been done before?

Højbjerg, Moura, Son, Lamela
