god the guy hit the target and forced the keeper into making a great save
and some of you idiots keep shooting him down .... keano is a tottenham legend
give him a break , he was the best of all our strikers sunday , and more importantly
WE WON THE GAME
if you want to analyze a crap header , see darren bents miss against pompy
you cant compare the 2 , one was a open goal , level with the open goal and he headed it wide , keanes was a low cross arriving just behind him , frankly i was amazed he even managed to direct the ball down towards the goal.

can we move on now and get behind our club captain , this season is gonna be a good one ,dont waste it hating our captain just because some of you cant get over the fact he left us for a chapions league club after 6 YEARS LOYAL SERVICE only to return in 6 months ...... seriously its not like he did a berba and want to leave after a season , then treat us like shit and disrespect us..... keane never said a bad word about spurs when he left and he always gives 110%

Legend 10, remind me.....WHY exactly would Keano NOT attempt to score...against a former club, that had messed up his season, last year, and who were 'there for the taking' by his current (and favorite) club? He would want to be some 'tulip' to purposely throw away such a chance? He made a decent attempt to score....but, sadly, Reina made a better attempt to save the header...but that is what great keepers tend to do..occasionally? lol.
Robbie will have many more chances to increase his goal tally....3/4 in his first game seems good to me....so, IF we can get a return like that, from any of the Strikers....we will indeed have a fruitful and nerry season? COYS!

Behind him? are you having a fucking laugh????

keane5.jpg

he is even jumping FORWARDS to get the ball. Nothing behind about it.

And its not that low a cross, Lennon never crossed higher than that for about 2 seasons. Its about chest/neck high when he gets on the end of it.

Well not necessarily against the ground, but I definitely think he should have just drilled it. Chipping there wasn't an option.

Why do you think that though? I'm just basing my opinion on what I've seen over the past few games, and Defoe wins hands down on that.

like he did with his volley lmfao yeah that woulda went down well

if Reina didn't have such fecking good reflexes throwing his left hand up it woulda been a goal

if you watch the replays the placement of the chip is class Reina is just a very good keeper most EPL keepers wouldn't of saved that

Ooh, we've missed this, haven't we? Pedant's Corner is well and truly open for point-scoring and general worthless semantic conversation. Bring your Opta stats and your prejudices but leave your rationality at the door.

Don't worry, guys, when we lose to Hull the whole forum will be like this. Then we'll all be happy... well, sad. :|

Are you being serious? It was the absolute perfect ball from Modric, impossible to have put it anywhere better. Behind him? What are you watching? Amazed he even managed to direct it towards the goal? Ok at this point I've realised you've been drinking and you're absolutely mullered!!

This has nothing to do with Keane being a Spurs legend or not. This is a debate that has turned into myself and a few others being astonished that some people are saying he shouldn't have scored and things like he did well to get it on target.

People haven't knocked him for his performance, in fact I think we've all pretty much said he had a decent/good game.

However, how can certain people's future comments on Robbie be taken seriously if they refuse to accept that that was an absolute gilt edged chance that should have been converted?

I'm lost as to what the hell it has to do with him going to Liverpool, who the hell cares about that?

Of course he attempted to score, nobody is doubting that.

My personal issue here is that I enjoy debating the toss with certain people over certain issues and I find their views interesting.

But I'm seriously concerned over whether I can take their views objectively if they refuse to acknowledge this as the golden opportunity it clearly was. It tells me that their viewing things purely by favourtism.

No, not like he did with his volley. That was a completely different chance (Keane's normally good at volleying). And... I don't actually think his chip was even on target, so it wouldn't have gone it anyway, but I still stand by the opinion that chipping it wasn't an option.

The last few pages of this thread don't make anyone look good (and the first few were none too spectacular)...

Why are people arguing so meticulously over something so irrelevant. Keane should have scored but it was also a great save, the two are never mutually exclusive. Some people are just using it as a tool to advance an anti-Keane agenda and others are taking it too much to heart. Fuggedaboutit. We won. If only Keane had four days to get his header at the right angle.

Perhaps there should be a page outlining the topics that are acceptable to be discussed and what is to be deemed irrelevant and what isn't?

Personally I have found it quite interesting to see how people view what was in my opinion a major incident in a game.

Perhaps we should all go and persecute David bentley then over his private life that we know nothing about, a much more worthwhile football thread.

I just think it went overboard but it did have interesting bits mate. Personally re the Bentley and countless other threads, I think people shouldn't give Gibbs the time of day.

I am astounded that this argument is going on three days after the match...

Has anybody realised we have another match tonight? Surely our energies are better focused on that than this senseless bickering now. It was a good debate at first but now it's just become a bollock swinging contest.

Keane played well. Keane should have scored that chance. Keane will miss other chances and score other chances. So will Defoe, Crouch and Pavlyuchenko.

I'm far more worried when a striker doesn't get chances in the first place than when he misses them. We won for goodness sake. We won and we played well. That makes everything else pretty irrelevant.

Keane does miss a lot of "easy" chances but to say he brings nothing to the team is not right on Keano. On his day he's really creative and a good thinker in the game.

I don't think it's a case of someone accusing others of being stupid or drunk for having a different opinion. I'm a Keane supporter but saying it was a hard chance to put on target is frankly odd.

Keane missed an easy chance, but he also can do this :)
