Keane played badly? Maybe.
Defoe played badly? Maybe.
Both Spurs players? Definitely.

Which is more important, would you say? Choosing one over the other, or supporting both in the hope that they will both do well for the club?

I noticed Keane actually putting his foot in for once. His work rate was exceptional and now is not the time to be ripping into any of our players playing today. (except maybe Gomes ;-) )

well im not a defoette nor a crouch fan i just think,
defoe will step it up again this year, keane will be his mediocre adored self
pavly wont get much minutes and crouch wont do that well (doesn't fit @ spurs)
people need to get off defoes back and start believing in him, look at his england form,
you can all say well we just beat liverpool and blah blah blah
but the idea is to maintain a high level, improve the squad, stive for consistency.

weve had keane a good few yrs and we see the same thing season after season
7-8 decent games and the rest he looks pony, maybe a spectacular here n there to excite the younger fans
but not top 4 club level player, uhm liverpool was a perfect platform for the so-called
talent of 'keane' but yeah he gets sold back within months n all is forgiven
LETS THINK OF THE FUTURE PEOPLE, NOT TRY AND HAVE THE SAME POOR QUALITY
(KEANE) YR AFTER YR, LETS TRY NEW PARTNERS

Not fact. Opinion.

However it is an opinion I agreed with before the start of the game.

Me too, but I felt the work rate of the two forwards was brilliant. Defoe's hold up play for a little guy was excellent and contributed to our exceptional ball retention this afternoon.

Please, be quiet.

After the last 3 years opening days today should be celebrated without any hint of slagging off our players. You may want to slag off Keane, but I can't see how you find the time, when you should be praising every single one of the players today.

I knew someone would put up something stupid like this after 3 points against Liverpool....and get rid of your sig m8. This is a spurs forum.

I thought Keane's pointing and shouting were top notch today. I see he has been working on a new 'running-along-waving-both-arms-at-the-same-time' move over the summer break!

keane is single minded and misses glorious chances
he can put away a spectacular goal every 20 gms and gets about 8 in total average, taht's about it
i wouldn't suggest pavly, maybe crouch as a tester and make jermain the main man

Sorry, but Crouch was awful when he came on.

Keane did miss two good chances, but he did well to get into the positions to give him those chances. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Keane links up with Modric better than anyone else in our team. Modric is our best player, if no one else can link up with him what are we going to do?

Agreed. I think both strikers were outstanding at closing down the defence and Mascherano/Lucas, giving them little to no time on the ball. I was very impressed.

Since he's come back, I've been totally anti-Robbie. But today he was his old self. It was especially noticeable when he went off and we had nothing offensively. He's had a summer off, a proper pre-season and i think its made all the difference. He was one of our best player, and people that say otherwise do not know ANYTHING about the game of football, other than being blinkered fools. Fools i tell you...

i think pav and defoe is the partnership we need but keane got in to positions today if only he could have finished them!

defoe's performance was a surprise for me as he has been very sharp of late.

I don't have the energy to argue with the anti-Keane brigade. your post sums up my feelings except the anti-robbie bit. i was glad when he came back and also noticed how we struggled going forward when he was taken off. yes he was one of our better players.

ok so some of you think robbie keane did well til he was substituted
(well apart from the 2 glorious chance) ok i can accept that

but will all you keane lovers really happy with seeing another mediocre season from a mediocre player?

some points:
keane misses alot of 1-on-1 chances
keane leaves any partner to feed of scraps (single minded)
keane couldnt cut it at a top4 club (something we hope to be 1 day)
keane couldnt support torres so how can he support our other strikers?
keane is comfortable knowing he will play, never out of a comfort zone (not healthly)
i could go on

IM ONLY SAYING THIS NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE
JUST HOPING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE WITH BETTER POTENTIAL PLAYERS

We could do the same for Defoe, and i think Defoe is a fantastic little player

some points:
Defoe misses alot of 1-on-1 chances
Defoe takes the shot when a pass is a better option (single minded)
Defoe has never had a big intarest from the top 4 (something we hope to be 1 day)
Defoe couldnt support any striker he has played with?
Defoe is comfortable knowing he will play, after Harrys comments (not healthly)
i could go on

(and thats before we get on to the offsides )
