I think we are closer than ever at the least. Looking at the lineup against Man U I thought they looked light in midfield and up front.

Drogba fit adds a new dimension to their team, but without him they look goal shy.

We have played Man City and Utd, yet won the other 2 games. Chelsea have had some favourable fixtures, the only standout result being a win away to Sunderland. They were spanked at Old Trafford.

I dont think we are too far away from them, provided Adebayor stays fit of course.

One more thing

I would say we have the best strike pair...out of the best of the rest

VDV...Ade beats

Carroll Suarez, Anelka Drogba Torres (old and past it), Gervinho RVP (injured all the time)

Our midfield is also superior to everyone else.

Bale...Modders....Parker....Lennon/VDV

You obviously didnt see the Chelsea v Man U game they were far from spanked and United were very flattered by the result!

Chelsea have a very strong team IMO as always they will be up there.

Until we finish above Chelsea, Arsenal or whoever else we are not better than them.

I think with our first XI fit we are a match for anyone but we are also a couple of injuries away from trouble.

The best complement that you can pay this current Spurs team is that on their day they can beat anyone. Pre Harry I don't think we could say that...and hadn't been able to for a long long time.

In what way is it better though?

considering its untested by us at the moment.

I believe that had Harry/Levy got Adebayor and Parker in before the season started, we would have beaten or drawn with Man U.

If we stay relatively injury free, we could finish 3rd imo.

Hmmmmm a bit of an exaggeration here? If Ade has an injury who do we have to fill in? Anelka, Drogba, Torres, Kalou, Sturrage and Lukaku seems like a pretty good line up to me I would take any of them over Pav and Defoe up front on their own.

Exactly.

Two games ago we had people worrying that we wouldn't even be in the top 6.

It's like a schizo convention in here sometimes.

Is it not a schizo convention? Damm I have been on the wrong website for at least 8 years now. No I haven't. Yes I have

This.

Although this year I will be disappointed if we do finish below the Arse, I really think that this year there aren't many excuses to not finish above them.

The OP underestimates Chelsea a bit, yes we may have closed slightly but they have a new manager and are finding there feet. They have been silently going about there business up to last weekend and they had as much of the game as Utd IMO, I'm not sure we are at their level yet, and if we are up there challenging them right at th end of the campaign then we will have had a bloody fantastic season.

Chelsea have a very strong team IMO as always they will be up there.

Chelsea could have played all day and not scored against a makeshift united defence.

They have an excellent back 5, but the midfield and forward line is not upto their usual strength.

The midfield 3 look especially weak compared to City and Utd. Lampard (age may catch up), Merieles and Ramires are not really league winning material.

Anelka and Drogba are the same story as Lampard. Sturridge is good but not great, Torres is crocked. Leaves Lukaku.

I think they will be 3rd by some distance this year with City and Utd romping to 1st and 2nd place.

:eh: They missed two open goals that any other day would have been converted!

Thats the key IMO. Injuries will dictate whether we finish 3rd or 6th.

If we had Adebayor last year we could have nicked 3rd IMO.

I may be jumping the gun, but our 1st team is very solid looking. Weakness for us is we rely too much on a couple of star players, ie King, Modric, Adebayor.

Eek They did score againt United but....... :-| and Torres should have made it 2, what are you talking about? :duh: lol

If you think they will be third then you obviously think they will finish the season better than us, City showed against Fulam they aren't perfect yet, yes they have the players but do they have the mentality to push all season? Saying that I think it will be 1. Man U, 2. City, 3. Chavs and then us...... hopefully :). But no reason why we cant challange.

Well that's already being tested by us having about 8 players out in the first few games

In principal though you are right. I think we have a very very good squad and with a good run without any major injuries to key players, we could very well finish the season in 3rd!
The depth in our squad is better than the other teams who will be fighting for 3rd/4th against us.
