Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he will be content to rely on loans and free transfers in January if chairman Daniel Levy does not make money available.
Redknapp has been linked with a number of Portsmouth players when the transfer window reopens, including Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, David James and Lassana Diarra.
But Levy has already warned that Redknapp has enough talent in his squad to succeed without further investment and the Spurs boss admits he may have to operate without a budget.
“If there is no money, there is no money,” he said in The Daily Mail.
“The chairman at Portsmouth used to ask me if I needed anything and I would say no.
“I don't want to spend (Levy's) money. If the chairman says there is a certain amount to spend then that is different.
“But if there is no money then I am just as happy to find a couple of loans and free transfers if I have to bolster the squad.”
I think it will all depend on where we are in the table as to how much money is spent. If we continue to rise up the table then i wouldn't want many if any players to come in and upset the balance of the squad.
