Harry Redknapp has admitted he will be looking to strengthen his Tottenham squad at the end of the season.

Juande Ramos made a number of big-money signings last summer but Spurs endured a disastrous start to the campaign and the Spaniard was replaced by Redknapp.

The new boss ventured into the winter transfer window to bolster various departments, with the likes of Carlo Cudicini, Pascal Chimbonda, Wilson Palacios, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe all arriving at White Hart Lane.

Spurs would appear to have greater depth to their squad and the results have been promising, with European qualification still a target.

However, Redknapp is already planning for the future and believes he will have to bring in more new faces.

He may therefore have to let some players go and speculation has surfaced regarding the futures of David Bentley, Darren Bent, Gareth Bale, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Tom Huddlestone.

"In the summer, I want to strengthen the squad a little bit in one or two areas," Redknapp said in the Evening Standard.

"There will be one or two lads who are not playing who will want to play.

"Those who are not in the team at the moment will not be happy.

"We are looking to bring one or two in."

Bale has to stay, along with Thudd. I reckon Bent and Bentley will be the two who go out probably replaced by Downing and a number 9

I would like to see one or two players come in, but another overhaul of the team would screw up next season.

Butit looks like it will just be a couple of players

Don't forget we may see some fleeting glimpses of our youth coming through too to make up the first team squad.

Wouldn't it be great to see one of our youngsters like Dos Santos, Taarabt or Obika burst onto the scene next season? I trust Harry to make one or two intelligent signings and hopefully leave it at that.

I think that Harry is clever enough to realise that we only need one or two new signings. A major overhaul is not needed and would ruin us again.

willl be a different approach to transfers, Redknapp likes to pull out the unexpected as shown at Pompey with the likes of Yakubu, Muntari, Krancjar amongst others.

Should be interesting but as others have said, an overhall of the whole squad again is not what needs to happen. Stability breeds progress which is proven at the more (relatively) successful sides both in playing staff and managerial/backroom staff.

yep DC Boy is spot on a covering left back so we can start looking at bale as cover for modric e.g - Ally Cissohko of porto

And a good strong striker in the air to join pav, defoe and keane. I would like Obika but wont be ready yet so someone like Chamakh of Bordeaux would be a clever signing.

Agree with you and D C. Would just like to add,if Hudd,/Zokora were sold buy a m/f like Marek Hamsik ,as we lack a m/f who can add 6to8 goals a season

I'm just hoping for a pretty quiet summer, i don't want to see too many go out except for the dead wood + Bent + Chimbo and i agree with the LB cover + target man, though if Harry can pick up a bargain that might make our first 11 i certainly won't mind. Some of our bench won't be satisfied - i'm a bit worried by these fulham rumors, so i'm really hoping that we take Europe at their expense - which makes me think Bentley or Hudd or Hutton will leave, and we'll struggle to keep 4 strikers happy.

yep Europe or not could decide a few outgoings I reckon - we need a strong squad to cope with any kind of European run - unfortunately the money earnt doesn't justify the wages paid and the fees we could get thru sales

financially (short term) it would probably be better to sell a few players even if we did make europe - but it's not just abpout short term money - indeed ultimately it isn't even about money - but glory -

but glory costs as they say (probably)

I think Downing and another CM player or a RM cover for Lennon will be the only few signings

well I hope so anyway.

LB/LM cover and a good in the air striker - that'll do me

and some like like Barry who could do what Carrick did for us

Cissokho, Barry and Crouch or Kenwyne Jones is all I would want us to sign in the summer

Barry will not come to us. If he leaves Villa its for a team playing in the champions league.

European football provides us with more revenue through gate receipts and TV. Having Europe next year could provide funds another one or two players wages.

I doubt very much that we have averaged more than £10m per year total (with say £6m profit) from our last 3 european seasons

you would easily recoup that £6m and more this year by say selling Bentley and Hudd, both in terms of sale fees and less wages

the europa lge/UEEFA is not cost efficient for us in keeping an 'extra large squad' in the way the CL is for many clubs

obviously if it turns out we made more than £15m revenue (and say £12m of that was 'profit') then the situation changes - but I don't think we did

Harry Redknapp has rubbished speculation suggesting a number of players could leave Tottenham in the summer.

Roman Pavlyuchenko was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this month, while there has also been talk about the future of Darren Bent.

The rumours stemmed from quotes attributed to Pavlyuchenko's agent but Redknapp insists both strikers figure in his plans.

"That was a statement that apparently came from Pavlyuchenko's agent," the Spurs boss said on Sky Sports News.

"I don't even know who he is. I have never met him or heard of him.

"He came out and said maybe we will sell Darren Bent. I don't even know where he would get that type of information from and it's certainly false.

"If he has said that he has got no right to say it."

Happy

Robbie Keane has been made Tottenham captain following his return to the club from Liverpool, while Redknapp also brought Jermain Defoe back to White Hart Lane in the winter transfer window.

Defoe is likely to play regularly once he is fully recovered from a foot problem but Redknapp insists it is important to have a number of options up front.

Asked if he was happy with his strikers, Redknapp replied: "Of course. I am pleased that Jermain is coming back now and Robbie has been fantastic since we brought him back.

"Pavlyuchenko showed what he could do last week when he came on (scoring the winner against West Ham) and Darren Bent has been in terrific form lately for me so I've got no problems with the players."

Asked if he had plans to get rid of any of them, Redknapp continued: "Not really, no.

"It is not something that is on my mind and I feel we need four good strikers."

Gomes

Redknapp also dismissed stories connecting goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes with a move to Chelsea.

Petr Cech has been unconvincing at times in recent weeks and, according to some reports, Gomes is a transfer option for Chelsea as he is well liked by current Blues boss and former PSV Eindhoven chief Guus Hiddink.

But Redknapp said: "I don't know what papers you read but where they have got that from I haven't a clue.

"Last week they wanted Pavlyuchenko, this week they want Gomes, next week maybe somebody else."

Not many needed in the summer! A couple out and a couple in me thinks!

Ideally - Benzema

Realistically - Jones

Although i will not be surprised if 'arry pulls of some kind of major signing in the summer, he just cant help himself!!
