im surprised that his severance deal didnt include something about not talking about the Club and past transfer deals. Personally, im sick of hearing him say that hes signed whoever, and Spurs were in for him last year, blah blah.

Am I the only one who thinks Harry DOES actually come across as bitter in that Guardian interview?

only this point, "He'll look to get whatever he thinks someone's value is, that's what he does. And January is his time of year. He'll be offering those 'three for one' deals, or buy one get one free, on the last day. That's how he works."" It sounds like he's saying I'm not the wheeler dealer - Levy is.

Listening to Harry’s interview on the bbc website after the match last night, thank god he has left, its talk, talk, talk, with Harry, always slabbering about this and that, Thank god we didn’t sign Remy or M’Vila for stupid amounts of money last season according to Harry. For me harry should be looking if he has any sense, getting rid this window of the expensive players he has at QPR, and looking to build a side that can recapture promotion back next season, and building on that.

That might be, but that is not his remit. That is not what he has been tasked with doing.
With the TV windfall for next season, the owners will want to secure EPL status this year, not concede relegation and fight to come back up. That might be more realistic, but it is not what the owners want to do after their outlay.

So HR will do what he sees fit to try and ensure EPL survival. This is his territory and overspending on players and wages is irrelevant as his task is to get his job done, not balance the books. If he is guilty of anything, it is charming owners into spending whatever in their quest to keep Harry and punch above their cash flows. At the end of the day, Harry does not spend the money, he just says which players he wants and needs to do what is asked of him.

Levy was shrewd enough to judge value vs Tottenham's books and decide whether or not to allow the transaction, most other clubs chairmen do not have the same savvy. They see Harry as their saviour etc and just blindly pay.

So yes we can probably be happy that DL did not sanction the expenditure on Remy and M'Villa, but if those are players Harry says he needs to get QPR out of the relegation zone, then QPR management are going to listen and pay... for they want to back their manager (or why change anything) and stay in the EPL. Presumably thy would seek to balance nay books next season if necessary.

Short termism maybe, but that is the nature of the sport.

I say praise Daniel Levy for playing the game with a longer term view and STILL getting us to be a top 4 club.

I think it would only be human nature to be fucking miffed, who wouldn't ? Problem with Redknapp is, he's never been a great liar, always protesteth too much. Maybe Levy didn't give him the long list of reasons he was actually sacked for and said simply "we're going in a different direction" to save his feelings (or make it easier on himself - same result).

He's a very mixed bag is Redknapp. Lots of things to lots of people. Good hearted but self serving. Bit naive but a bit sly. Bit simplistic but instinctively intuitive. Popular and disliked.

He was sacked for a few reasons I think, not one big one. And I think he probably knows this.

Yep. It's not really that complicated. Harry was just a charismatic character that Levy didn't like,

This is the 'arry I miss (see below from BBC), but no regrets with his departure overall :playful: :

Harry Redknapp said QPR's embarrassing 4-2 FA Cup defeat by League One side MK Dons at Loftus Road justifies his need to bring in new recruits.

"Surely they're entitled to beat a team from two divisions down? It tells me I need to improve the squad," he said.

He said: "If you look at the team today, what is it? An England goalkeeper [Rob Green], a right-back from Manchester United [Fabio], a left-back in Armand Traore.
"You've got Anton Ferdinand and Tal Ben Haim, then Esteban Granero from Real Madrid. You've got Ale Faurlin, Park Ji-sung from Manchester United, Jamie Mackie, Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell."
Redknapp, who has already brought in striker Loic Remy and defender Ben Haim during the transfer window, suggested some players could be moving out with a deal for Chunnam Dragons' South Korean international Yun Suk-young close to being completed
"I gave them a chance today because they knock on my door and say they should be playing and other people tell me they are all good players," the former Tottenham boss said.
"Well, they got their chance today and they blew it. It answers questions - not for me because I already knew the answer, but for other people. Today they saw the answers."

It entertained me reading this one,... The team that Warnock and Hughes built appears ineffective. Now we'll get the chance to see if Remy is the real deal :watching:

Who cares, always be grateful for what he did. He is now part of history, just leave him there.

Eh? What that basically says is he put out a team that he expected to lose just to prove a point to his players and, by the "I need to improve the squad" comment, his chairman too.

I doubt Harry would take the FA cup too seriously with QPR's current Premiership position so I have no doubt he played a second string eleven (in his view) full of the show ponies or over-rated poor man's Galacticos.

The result was pretty much what he expected from a team who didn't want to know so I should imagine we'll see Clint Hill and Shaun Derry back in the side for the crucial Premiership games.

So, yes, I think he did play a team he suspected would lose (even though it shouldn't) and is justified to use it as an excuse to get shot of them/put them back onto the bench.

i am saying it is a shame Arry let's his mouth run so much as it damages the good work he did at spurs. Fans are not stupid, he cannot tell us what he wants us to think.

Exactly. Harry was a fantastic manager for us and I wish him well. It's nice to see he hasn't had a real pop at us. Good luck to him I say.

He did a good job at Spurs. One of our most successfull managers. However this article clearly reveals the character of the man. Of course he knows why he got sacked. And then going on about how he's been done so much wrong in his lifetime but he he doesn't hold grudges. He forgives and forgets. Me thjnks not.

A capable man no doubt but not to be trusted.

What is he supposed to say at a press conference? Do you honestly believe anyone would reveal to the press exactly what went on in a private confidential discussion that resulted in his dismissal? Throughout Harry's tenure, and putting aside his ability to open his mouth too much, a lot of the fans were always looking for an excuse to have a pop at him. I don't know why that was to be honest. As long as he did it on the pitch I couldn't give a fuck what he said off it. There's enough to worry about on the pitch. But that's done and dusted now, he's gone and we should move on and certainly stop this continual anti feeling about him. It's rather sad if you ask me.

So pleased he is no longer our manager. I'm thankful for the job he did but so tired of when things were going well it was because he had built such a good team, yet whenever things went wrong it was because we couldn't compete with the big teams.

QPR have players good enough to win that match and it was his job to set up a team to do just that. He simply got it wrong.

To suggest he was somehow proving a point to the players or chairman is just stupid. One because if you don't think a player is good enough you don't play them unless you are forced too, let alone putting a team out full of players you believe are rubbish. To do so is an insult to the fans who paid good money to support their team.

Secondly, the chairman has more than backed him with the money he has Remy and Ben Haim on, plus trying for M Vila.
