Lucky is getting wins because the ref fluffed up and your rivals get the shits.

Winning more games, fairly, than your rivals is just being better than them.

In my opinion, United have been luckier in the last 20 years.

I dont call Fulop throwing 3 in his own net to secure Arsenals CL quailfication two seasons ago luck, I call it highly suspiscious.

I dont call the end of last seasons winning streak to pip us at the final hurdle luck. I call it unbelievable. Unbelievable in a highly suspicious way . Anyone remember the non existent penalty given by a linesman stood 100 yards away ?

I dont call half our team throwing up at West ham luck either. Just bad luck you may say. Again, I call it highly suspect given the circumstances.

The list goes on and on, but if anyone has any doubt, I urge you to take another look at Fulops performance on the last day in 2012. The fact he even played at all was suspiscious. How this performance and subsequent result was never investigated is beyond me.

Completely agree.

Arsenal are undeniably a 'lucky' club, but the question has to be how are they consistently so lucky all the time?

How exactly did the 'fixtures computer' manage a few seasons ago to come up with a scenario where every time Arsenal and Chelsea played in the Champion's League, Arsenal's next game was a home game, and Chelsea's next game was an away game, when they were both fighting for the title. Not just once, every single game that season.

Why did Arsenal sail through planning permission and get massive government grants for the buiding of their new stadium, where we have had everyone from English Heritage to TFL doing their absolute utmost to stand in our way at every opportunity?

Why have Arsenal had a fixture list which has left them with a series of extremely winnable games in the final run of the season for years and years now?

Quite apart from all the incredibly dodgy footballing 'occurrances' and mistakes from officials and other teams.

Arsenal are a lucky football club - but I very much doubt all that luck is a result of natural coincidences. In fact the only area where you could say they've been unfortunate over the years is with injuries - the one area they couldn't possibly influence in their favour in some way.

They remind me of Southampton all those years ago when they would constantly flirt with relegation, eventually they will get pipped to 4th as I dont see them any higher

I also like the sweets 'Pinballs' from Maoam

I like Maoam too, despite the evident sexual abuse on the front of each bar.

Now we're talking. Being corrupt is way more interesting than being lucky.

Anyone with a brain knows we were sabotaged with dodgy lasagne.

I am 100% certain if that was spurs last night in Arsenals position waiting on Everton to drop points then Everton would not only of beaten Palace with ease but gone onto win the remainder of their games to pip us to 4th.

Why do those bastards get the luck of the draw every single time? Don't get me wrong we have been shocking this season and don't deserve 4th but Arsenal have also been pretty abysmal and once again teams throw them a life line ( Everton yesterday and us countless times)

Will the luck of Arsenal ever run out? When are spurs ever going to get that sort of luck or break? Or is just the fact that Arsenals winning mentality are so superior to our weak losers mentality? Arguments could be made both ways but there's no denying Arsenal are such a bunch of lucky wankers!!!!!
I can't look any further than our own failings.

Lol, the race for fourth is done and has been for a couple weeks. Everton have a horror run in.

If anything I'd say Everton have been lucky this season, they are massively overperforming. Picking up points in games they never should, scraping wins. They were dominated by Fulham and somehow won 3-1. Etc etc.

Everton will be back to their 7th place campaign next season, their form will regress back to what it should be, they'll lose their loan signings, other teams will strengthen and/or get new managers (United, Arsenal, Tottenham), and they won't be near top 4 next season. Martinez is one of the most overrated people in all of football, you all will see next season when Everton have tailed off to where they should be, he will do no better than Moyes (and with a much better squad).

Although yes, Arsenal are a lucky side. And we tend to be very unlucky.

I strongly disagree! They are a very good side, with skilful players, who play as a team under an astute - and intelligent - manager. Lukaku helps, of course, but if they get fourth (I think they will do) then they may be able to afford to buy him. But I repeat - they play as a team that are on the same wavelength. I think they will get even better under Martinez, and can see a changing of the guard, with (perhaps) Arsenal and Man U falling out of orbit. Spurs breaking into the top four will still be incredibly hard. The turning point will come when we have the income generated by the new stadium...

"Luck" is just a label we use when events occur that are contrary to our expectations. It's an abstract concept; it doesn't exist in reality, it's just a pathetic excuse people use to justify their failure to anticipate stuff that happens all the time.

with respect to everyone that has it.............it is impossible to make your own luck as by definition luck is something that happens out of your control

We've been lucky to get penalties to win a lot of our games 1-0 though.

What will get them into the top 4 is their terrific form during the first half of the season. I think injuries have hit them hard to be fair and that's why they've suffered. That and the fact Giroud is painfully bad.

They have been a very well run club for years before we were and have reaped the reward of that and a very shrewd decision to bring in one of the best managers around and not panic and sack him every time they failed to win a bauble.

I think you can influence the probability that luck may favour you though. And Arsenal's football invariably does this.

As an extreme hater of all things Everton I sincerely hope you're right, in fact a season without the loan players of the value of the 3 they have somehow acquired this season and Europa league to contend with I can see them having a Newcastle-esque season next year and I for one will be loving it.

it all comes down to mentality, focus, composure, will power. basically the mind. its the ability to focus, pull though and deliver when you know absolutely have to. why messi, every time? how come chelsea, every time? how come arse, manc, every time?

its the drogba, its the john terry, its the cech, versus the adebayor, the walker, the tim howard.

man u this season and last season is the perfect example of mentality at its best/worst.

a good coach can drill mental toughest into teams. just look at mou, BR,etc. hopefully LVG comes to us because he's one of those coaches
