Going to be interesting to see how Gallagher will justify VAR changing a yellow to red in the Chelsea game, yet not even looking at the foul on Vicario.

Gotta be honest, I didn’t think it was a particularly high quality game. Arsenal probably superior in terms of sustained pressure and having most of the game played in our half of the field, but didn’t really overwhelm us at any point. In contrast, we did have to mostly counter-punch off the backfoot, and had a horribly shaky first half hour where we looked nervous under the press and couldn’t seem to pass forward, but were efficiently opportunistic when we did put some football together and got to the final third.

And then you look at the source of all four goals – a massive deflection, a goalkeeper flap, a penalty, and the last man getting robbed of the ball - and does suggest it was a fairly scrappy game.

Dug in at times, struggled a bit for the first time in possession but kept composed and trying to play our game, and made the most of our limited forays forward. Decent point, especially away from home against a top table rival and having gone behind twice.

Weird take mate. Some of the football we produced was high quality stuff.

Even opposition fans were acknowledging it

Yeah think that was the game where we start getting taken seriously. Heard a lot of "they haven't played anyone of note yet" before yesterday. Should (but still probably wont) shut a lot of people up.

Talk about double standards, Gallagher says ref got it right in both cases and justified the Chelsea one by saying you have a duty of care to your opponent- where was nketieh’s duty of care to Vicario.

I lost count of the attempts by Arsenal players trying to take out Maddison with hacks at his legs

Thankfully he got away with the most of it (hopefully)

Did he? The clip i watched said he would have no complaints if it was a red card and nketiah was very lucky. He said the var looked at it and decided yellow was correct. Then Stephen warnock makes a clown of himself trying to justify it.

Unless there's another clip?

An arsenal fan at work, who knows less about football than a tin of sardines, suggested to me this morning that arsenal should have had a penalty for an Udogie handball, apparently from an arsenal corner. It's often difficult to see everything when attending that shithole because the view is so poor, but - having watched the highlights - I haven't seen or heard anything about this. Does anyone know, or is this more nonsense from a typically clueless arsenal fan (who thought the Nketiah challenge was in no way a red card)?

Ball did hit his hand coming in from a corner I believe, though I think his arm was up challenging for a header with someone. Seemed to be checked rather quickly and nobody mentioned it again.

I agree with you and I'm enjoying the football we are playing but we can still play good football without passing back across the goal so often. It's not necessary it's just as easy to pass it forward if you move into a position but we do it 4 or 5 times with the opposition closing in and the the panic passes creep in.
A fair assessment. All the good teams do it though. Against lesser teams its not as risky as it is against the good teams. However, if all the good teams do it then we have the exact same opportunity to press and force a mistake against them as they do against us.

Hope you follow that because that was a lot of "against's" 😀

For the pen, doesnt White handball it before Romero?

I thought so at the time and it really looks like he controls the ball slightly with his arm and chest.

I'm fuming now the more I saw the tackle from Nketiah. And his punchable face walking away from the ref when the card was shown, what a twat.

It is a red card every day of the week. I thought the ref didnt have a great game but it turns out the real culprit was actually whoever was in the VAR room.

Raya over Vicario? Don't think so.

I don't think Saliba individually is any better than Romero either, but it's a close call.

I also don't get the wank fest over Saka, sure he plays really well sometimes, but there's no consistency there, i'd say he's even's with Deki.

Martinelli I agree is probably better than what we have right now and I'd take Odegard over Sarr, but that's it.

Was just trying to be balanced. Vicario looks very good but only played a handful of games in the PL so far.

Romero/Saliba is a very close one.
Romero back in 👍

Saka's numbers are surely ahead of Kulusevski though...
