Doherty hasn't covered himself in glory, but anyone in his position today would need more help than he is being given from Bale.
I expect to see Sissoko on.

Lamela seems to be the only player with fire in his belly I did not see this performance coming . I just hope we play better in the second half .

I know Doherty is getting alot of stick, but ndombele has gone missing completely.

We need to 'run about a bit' more in the second half at the very least, PEH is doing is job. We need to sacrifice someone (not bale) and get another midfielder on.

He got destroyed in 1v1 couple of times, one of those resulted in a goal to them. And yes, he deserves the blame for that. Bale doesn't help enough but there isn't a single FB who gets to defend 2v1 with a winger at all times.
He's two Vs one every time. So he has to decide whether to go out wide on Tierney and leave Smith Rowe free inside for the easy pass. Hard to defend when your constantly in two minds whether to stick it twist. He needs more help from CM CB and Bake. I'm sure José will address it at halftime.

You can blame Doherty all you like but he's two on one every attack arsenal make. They have clearly set up to overload that side knowing Bale's defending will be sporadic at best.
That has been a problem but the goal came from a 1 on 1, the winger left him for dead and he didn't even get a tackle in or have the nouse to stop him with a foul.
I wasn't excited when he came but I've never at any point had a go about him, not least because I don't think he's good enough so why complain. To say he was overloaded for that goal though is not correct.

It’s frustrating with us that you know within the first two minutes of the game if we are going to be good or not. They just don’t look up for it.

A timely reminder that we’re still awful against teams who aren’t battling relegation.

Very little has changed from where I’m sitting.
Tbf we’re pretty shit against the big teams too, Liverpool would be world champions if they played us every week, there’d be none of this record defeats at Anfield, at least the mighty Burnleys, Brightons and Fulhams turned up...
