Standard reactions from two Woolwich fans this morning:

Me; "That was a helluva second half for you guys last night, good going, bet that's cheered you right up"
Gooner 1: "Well Dier's goal was offside - I wasn't there but my mate and brother were, and they were right in line, he was definitely offside. And that was never a penalty, it was a cl..."
Me; "I was just congratulating you, besides, what does it matter? You scored four a..."
Gooner 2: "Ah, typical Spurs, look, getting defensive because your team cheat and dive"

It's like some sort of disease. They just talk and talk and don't listen to a word anyone says.

@onthetwo Why is that optimistic? We've rolled them over in our last two home games (1 at Wembley) and if we are in the NWHL by then surely we can expect a completely different mindset?

I get why people are feeling a little deflated and defeatist at the moment but there's a lot of things that need taking into consideration.

Third big game in 8 days (we don't have the CM alternatives available to rotate)
Three games on the bounce for Sissoko (that's where you need the energy)
Poch got it wrong (I'm sure he'll get it right next time)
We were away from home and generally don't do well there.
They were right up for it and clearly prioritised it with a whole weeks preparation
We always come into our own after Xmas
sorry mate, i thought you meant the cup game in a few weeks time at the Emirates. Fixed!

A plea to Poch and the players - Do not repeat that pathetic performance when we go back there later this month. If you value this club's proud history, you will know that you will be throwing away one of the diminishing chances we have to avert the first full decade since the 1930s when we don't win a trophy. Yes, please read these words and remember what is on the line and don't simply dismiss it !

It's a close call as to whether that loss the or similar way we lost to them at their place a year earlier was worse, I'd say yesterday's was more frustrating because we got back into it, got ourselves ahead and then shipped in 3 goals without reply in the tamest of surrenders in what should have been a hard fought derby against the old enemy.
We haven't won the league on half a century and we haven't won a major European cup in decades. Fans of a certain age need to get this. Yes, we don't like them, but they are not our main rivals now. The players certainly don't think so.

let them have their moment of glory..... before they realize that finishing in the Top-4 is their new ultimate goal.

It was bad because we were ahead at halftime, but in reality a lot of players were spent. As I said before, Poch got it wrong with his subs. I think the subs in the end were just to give a run out. Even then, Moura had a great chance to get a third for us, but he's not clinical. He also looked pissed off that he came in late, because I think he wanted to put one over Emery. He'll get another chance in a fortnight.

Even when we were ahead we were still awful. We had five minutes.

Second half we were bullied - fucking bullied by Arsenal. I mean thats infuriating. Losing isnt pride denting, being bullied is.

The league cup is massive.

Gutted. Was one big match to far in a week. Flat from the beginning, just couldn’t get going at all. They had a week to prepare for this and it showed. Get a win Wednesday and on we go....COYS

What were people’s thoughts on Hugo's performance particularly for goal 2?

I think it was just a great goal that was hit insanely early but my dad was absolutely scathing that Hugo didn’t really attempt a save.

Southampton have just sacked Hughes, which means they will get a result against us!

That's the difference between the chance Son had and Aubameyang: Son doesn't hit the ball early; he also hit it straight down the middle, whereas Aubameyang curled it to the side.

I do get it, it's etched into my memory that we have to go back to seasons 1960/61 and 1983/84, I wasn't alive for the last time we won the league but do remember being there for that special night when we lifted the trophy after that dramatic win on penalties. Yes I would love to have some more recent memories of glorious European triumphs such as that one but there is nothing we can do to change the past seasons from then until 2017-18 to add to league titles since 60/61, and European silverware since 83/84 .
There is something we can do this season however to stop us going a full decade without winning something but time is fast running out. Realistically the league looks a step too far, but the potential shots at the League Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League if we end up in it, should not be discounted or dismissed so that's 3 last swings at cracking it, it's not going to be easy by any means achieving any of those things, but it's not as unachievable as winning the Champions League or the PL. My dream, is beating Arsenal on penalties, or with a last gasp goal against them that is as lucky as Liverpool's was in the 96th minute of game yesterday, but in Europa League final to rob them of a place in the Champions League with them also missing out to us on goal difference for fourth spot.

For the progress of the club, I want top four. A cup would be nice as would being top London club again. I'd rather progress to the next round of the Champion's League than go into the Europa, which will affect our chances of the top four. That's why getting as many points as possible in the next twelve EPL games is vital, in case we drop into the Europa.

He took it so early and didn't really have any right to. Caught Lloris flat footed but it happens.Fair dos, it was a great finish.

On another day, Harry's excellent free kick beats Leno only a few mins before that and we're 3-1 up. Football can be bloody infuriating sometimes...

Just been told by a Gooner colleague that I'm the person who's made him anti-Spurs, because before he wasn't particularly against us and was much more anti-Chelsea (he still is). I dig out all the Gooners and Chelscum as well as any Spammers when we win.
