Additions, sugar daddy and spending millions doesn't mean we're going to win every game or trophies. Last week showed that even with this squad and the right setup, tactics and decision making, we are able to compete against almost anyone. I do agree that yearly additions are important, but they aren't the be and end all.
I've never said that additions and spending millions means that teams don't lose because everyone loses from time to time, but the teams that have the most money and in turn buy the best players which usually means the lose a lot less.
The frustration from my side is that yes sometimes when we get it right it's great but more often than not we tend to struggle in the pressurised games when there is a lot riding on it the last two FA cup semi-finals for example could not even win one of them when it mattered.
It always looks like we get so far then it blows up in our face and it's back to basics again, as much as I love our manager I'm starting to think he maybe one of those manager's who never win anything and that would be a real shame for all of us.

Who are those twats on ESPN? They are constantly digging out Spurs, saying we bottled it every time we lose any big game. They're stealing a living.

Funny that clubs like Real Madrid and Man Utd should be considering a manager who may never win anything. You should inform them immediately before they make a colossal mistake. It's your duty as a sentient member of humanity.

He was a guest on Talk Sport (the last word with Natalie Sawyer) last Sunday and they were talking about the Chelsea win and the NLD

Mason was saying that as good as Arsenal’s unbeaten run is, they haven’t yet produced a performance like Spurs did against Chelsea (famous last bloody words). The topic then changed to rivalries and there was a gooner caller talking about how th NLD is the biggest game of the season for Arsenal and Spurs. That’s when Mason referenced the battle of the bridge etc and said the players want to beat Chelsea more and then spoke about it being the match with the most “needle” rivalry.

I was very surprised and disappointed to be honest. Hopefully after the shenanigans yesterday and the fact we go there again In just over two weeks, the NLD re-establishes itself as the “must win” derby of the season.

After Dier scored and the celebration kerfuffle I thought the boys were woken up. Then the penalty straight after we had them rattled. That 10 minutes before half time and the opening 5 minute period after half time was the only period of the match we had them worried. They sniffed blood from then on and we didn't respond.

Actually just watched whole game again up to 75 minutes. And 2nd half was totally different from how I viewed it yesterday. The first 10 minutes we were in total control they barely got out their half. Then we basically got undone by 1 pass. Saying that Aurier should have been round on cover and it was easily preventable. After that they had a few half chances but nothing major bar the dele clearance off the line. They certainly weren’t all over us and we were pretty in control at 2-2. And then it was just a mess of a goal. The most noticeable difference to Chelsea was the lack of intensity. Which I guess you can only put down to tiredness. I’d say we gifted them 3 goals that were easily preventable. They were much better first 20 minutes but after that there was very little in it till it went 3-2.

I hear you...but:

Who stole Arnesen?

Who had a 30 year (ish) unbeaten run against us?

Who used to beat us 4-0 home and away every year?

Who turned Modric's head?

Who dumped us out of the CL by winning it?

Who beat us in the League cup final?

Who beat us in two of our last 3 FA cup semi finals?

Who stopped us winning the title one year and then beat us to the title the following year?
Blimey! You really know how to cheer us all up.....
It's bad enough that we lost the NLD 24 hours ago.

Fuck that, think I’d rather have some dentistry with no anaesthetic.

Foyth and Aurier (whom I both dig) had 'mares dues to all of the reasons described previously. Some people worry too much. We'd just beaten Chelsea and had a draining game against Inter. These things happen. Hurts because it's that mob but credit where it's due they were hungrier and fresher.

For a team that have spent bugger all we're pretty damn competitive. Honestly, that's al we can strive to be.

What I did notice in the game is how 2 nd rate their stadium is now looking - especially against ours. That must hurt, really hurt.

All our facilities now piss over theirs - ouch.

The good news is this is like their cup final again! That shows we are back in the big time again.

They are good, but Wolves showed them up. It's easy to say that Poch was outhought, but maybe Poch has his eyes set in something else, the game at the Camp Nou.

Was in Vegas so had to be up at 6am for this after a night out. The whole match is a bit of a blur, but I remember enough to want to wipe it out of my memory forever. Unfortunately, however, even gooners that I rarely hear from these days have reared their ugly heads to send me shadow gifs and inform me that we are on the verge on returning to the doldrums, "where we belong".

As for the game, it pains me to admit it but Emery got it spot on from their perspective. They clearly did their homework and were boosted by the absence of our most in-form CB. They started well, but we showed great resilience to turn it around before HT. Unfortunately, this also gave us a false sense of security and papered over our actual performance and overall energy levels. We could've done with a substitution to spruce things up, although I know an unforced change at HT is not Poch's usual style.

Emery's HT substitutions meant Dier was sucked in further back, pretty much dropping in between Verts and Foyth as a 3rd CB. This left the midfield to Sissoko and, to an extent, Eriksen. Xhaka took care of our ball players which allowed Torreira to roam. Throw in a couple of preventable situations and we end up with the result.

Not the end of the world, as I'm sure we'll bounce back from this. In the meantime, I'll continue blocking unnecessary gooner contacts on WhatsApp.
