just spent some time looking through extended highlights....lot's to like going forward. Would love to work out who could be our midfield shield this season. If we had super fit Wanyama we could split the top 2. Need Dier to get some fitness and form back.

First four games we had significant absences of Alli, Son, NDombele, Foyth, Lo Celso, Davies, Vertonghen, Sessengnon, Dier, Aurier, and Eriksen’s transfer oddness. Think we’re going to look better when most of them are available?

Also, people keep battering Pochettino over the head with the league results second half of last season. I feel like some of you don’t even watch the club or have the memory of goldfish. Compounding the fact that we bought zero players, we had an epic injury crisis. Kane, Dele, Rose, Vertonghen, Winks, Lamela, Wanyama, Dembele, and more injured for long and crucial periods of time. Against WHU in April our subs bench was Gazzaniga, Trippier, KWP, Wanyama, Skipp, Janssen, and Llorente.

Yet we made the UCL final and finished top four.

No club needed the international break more than we did. If things are still looking shit after the break then I think there will be legitimate space for criticism, but until then I think we need to have some patience.

Not the best of starts but not bad considering we have had City and Arsenal away. I thought we put in a decent performance today. Definitely "best of the rest" after City and Liverpool. After the international break I should think that we will be raring to go. Lets see how we go but top 4 should be on the cards.

Totally agree - a bit of patience needed.

With Sissoko, I've gone through the various stages of hate, love, hate. When he plays - when we don't have the ball we have 11 players, when we have it, we only have 10.

Its unfortunate that when we make the decisive pass in the final third it seems to fall to him, it's always a turn over of some sort.

His hustle and bustle is unmatched, but I think when everyone is fit he is lucky to make our bench (which is a good thing)

Anyone thinks it was a bad decision to sell Tripps now?

We had no replacement for him, bad luck struck us with Foyth injured. Even so I don't think he's any better than Sanchez TBVH. Serge was not trusted. Sighz.

Ironically Tripps is probably playing the best games of his life at AM. Won't be long before he got called back to the national squad. Makes you wonder if coaching really makes a huge difference to one's ability. Simone probably just brought the best out of Tripps better.

With the space offered to us from the scums defence, I'm really gutted we had not made full use and exploit that. So few quality crosses went in to find Kane. If only Tripps was available to whip just a few in... Sigh

Stop rewriting history, Trippier was average for us and needed to move on, he's now in a different environment playing well again but it's doubtful he'd be playing this well for us, also when was the last time he whipped in balls and was a threat?

Prior to the start of the game , was hoping for a win (as usual) but wasn’t really expecting much especially after our result against Newcastle, as well as us missing a number of vital players and playing away to our arch enemies.

However I have to say that I’m satisfied with the final result as we could easily have lost this game.

Getting two points from away games against two top opposition (and stopping them from getting 3 points) might be handy towards the end of the season.

We’ve played against an almost full strength arsenal whilst we still have a number of first team players to return to the squad.

Things within the club looks rosy again. Jan is back. Eriksen & Toby will be with us, for at least the next few months. Ndombele & Dier should be available after the internationals and Foyth & Sess not long after.

Give it time - I know that we haven't been convincing for a while but we are looking at something of a transition with new players being integrated, players finding fitness and coming back from injury. If we are still not looking convincing by Xmas with, hopefully a full complement of players available then I will understand people's concerns but now is not the time to be losing it IMO. Pointless anyway, Poch isn't leaving or being sacked so we'll have to make the best of it.

Fair point?

One of the worst refereeing displays I can remember.

Every time an Arsenal player fell over it was a free kick. Our players got booked for nothing, and theirs got away with tonnes.

Ceballos on Dele and Sokratis on Kane are both penalties too. Really don’t understand what the point of VAR is if it can’t actually help the ref out.

Disagree with the Kane view, he dived to make it look a penalty and, quite rightly imo, had it waived away, but I agree the ref was a disgrace yesterday.

If we want to improve as a team and actually challenge for the PL title we need better than Sissoko. He has improved beyond all measure since his first season or so at Spurs but he remains hopeless in the opposition penalty area.

. Xhaka had at least three occasions prior to his booking when he should have been booked. His actually booking should have meant a Red as it should have been the second yellow.

Pepe would have murdered Davies.

I didn't think Rose was bad. Too passive like the rest of the game, but Davies would have been the same.
Two games now a team has scored because he has not opened his mouth

Not when you seen him done at the back post again last night.

A couple of good and a couple of bad things. We scored early and were better from the get-go than previous rounds. But I don't think we played very well, and were wasteful and easily put under pressure.

When teams open up against us, we can hurt them. We struggle when teams park the bus, always have.

The bit you're missing out imo is that Sissoko is not playing as a forward . The reason he is often in shooting positions is that he alone is making the lung busting runs to get in these positions . Mebbe if the other forwards did half the work he does then we might have a competent shooter in one of these situations.

But right now we are also struggling against teams who opt for the high press and are willing to swarm us.
Yes we can be direct and have pace to burn in behind, but Arsenal could easily have beaten us yesterday because they showed an intensity that we have lacked for over a season now.

We seem to only play at one speed, and this constant short passing out from the back is being countered to the extent we are having to hoof it forward and hope for a positive knockdown from Kane or Son.

We were pretty clinical yesterday and yes the ref favoured the home team, but our overall play isn't up to par. Coupled with bad mistakes from both full backs (what the hell was Rose doing just before their first goal?!?!), I am quite happy we took home a point.
