Seven points is naff all. We've got Manure at home, Everton, Chelski & Sunderlandland away yet.

Arsenal have Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, and their away games to QPR, Stoke and West Brom won't be straight forward.

Chelsea have Man City, us, Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as a tricky away game to Fulham.

Considering the remaining fixtures, seven points is quite a lot really.

Whatever way you look at it it is still a great season thus far, we are still in a better position than we dreamed of at the start of the season, and have a great chance of winning the cup....its not all bad.

I keep coming back on to the site in the hope that i will awake from the nightmare of getting stuffed at the Emirates. Struggling to move on with the positive thoughts but appreciate everyone who is trying to cheer us up.

It was hard even reading the papers this morning. I don't even know what I was looking for in there...some crumb of comfort or something.

All I can say is thank God I'm off work!

I said days ago that if you play a 442 against a 4231 then you hand the initiative to the opposition to dominate midfield. And what happened?

Yes we scored 2 fortunate goals but the rest of the time Arsenal comprehensively outplayed us.

What really gets to me is Harry knows this. Nearly everytime that we have played Arsenal under him he has come out and said about us being outnumbered in midfield. So why the fuck does he still stick with 2 cms against their 3? It is mind boggling! Even in the matches we have won Arsenal have still dominated in midfield.

By the time half time had come around and Harry finally made the changes it was much too late. Arsenal had initiative, they had the wind in their sails and the crowd behind them. We were never gonna gain control of a match at their stadium that we were never in control of from the first minute to the last.

There is only one person to blame for this and it is Harry Redknapp. .

Get over it? Did you watch the game yesterday? I don't think anyone on this board has had an irrational reaction what took place yesterday. It was thorough disgrace.
If we beat Man united, I bet you will be saying we are back on for winning the league again. get real we got tonked in their cup final. they did the same to chelsea and then continued to play mediocre football. teams are getting beaten by funny scores. keep calm and support the team. This is no time to lose your head.

It is strange that he admitted to the same mistake when we played them at Home earlier in the season. And then went and did the same yesterday? I can see that after the Newcastle game he would have thought that this was shrewd tactics. but So many of our players played so badly. It isnt the sole problem of Harry, they whole team have to stand up and be counted and look to go on to the end of the season with this deafeat stinging the memory.

I have us still to finish 3rd at the end of the season doing the BBC Predictor thingy, and my predictions were very pessimistic.

I had us to lose to Man U and Chelsea and drawing with our hardest away matches against Everton and Sunderland, with the rest of the games us winning.
The others (Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool) I had them winning their remaining games with the exception of draws in the games against the teams above them i.e Man U, Man City and against eachother.

Thats including me putting Arsenal winning away to West Brom, QPR, Wolves and Stoke.
Chelsea winning away to QPR, West Brom and Aston Villa.
And Liverpool winning away to Sunderland, Newcastle, Blackburn, Norwich and Swansea.

I accept it was a bad day at the office and we have to pick ourselves up again and whilst i am fully appreciative of what Redknapp has done for us, there is much that can be learnt on days when things are not going well for you.

  1. Psychology - at 2-0 up we sat back. We took our foot off the pedal and we invited goons on to us. Dangerous game and not the first time we have done this. We needed to press them higher up the pitch.
  2. Harry loves his best team. We know that. Kyle Walker turned his ankle in training on friday and BAE had an operation just the week before. Yet they played. We do not have a recognised cover at right back or at LB really because i dont think Rose is that man. This is down to Redknapp.
  3. Ledley has been great for us. Love him to bits. However the crucial games against City and Goons he has been found wanting. Saddens me to say but i think his time is up or drawing to an end. That said there is an argument that King wasnt fully fit either. Dawson and Kaboul are now our only recognised centre backs aside from Nelsen.
  4. Bale. Needs to play on the left. He needs to give cover to BAE and in the first 15 minutes yesterday he was giving Sagna a difficult time. This drifting all over the field has not yielded much since Norwich away. Granted he won a penalty yesterday but he needs to get back to playing for the team.
  5. I called the subs before half time as i could see Arsenal were gaining momentum and lo and behold 2 quick goals before break undid all our good work. Why then when they came on did Sandro not sit in front of the back four and VDV help shore up midfield until we could regain control.
  6. Lennon - should have started ahead of Krank.
  7. Harry - love him as we do, i think it is in games like this when it is running away from you that you need to do something to bring the game back on track. All of the previous points could be attributed to him and his coaching staff, but sadly coming out and just saying we defended poorly isn't really good enough. He's brilliant when things are going well. In games like yesterday, not so much. We just seemed to let the game slip further and further away from us when the warning signs were there even before we scored our second.
Perhaps yesterday was a reality check for everyone concerned. The players - as they have to apply themselves 100% in every game; The manager - life is not always a bed of roses and you earn your corn on the bad days not just the good days; The fans - over optimism has a habit of biting you in the butt. It may also make us wonder whether Harry for England may be best for everyone concerned? Just a thought.

As you mentioned, the key thing is learning the lesson. I can take yesterday's mauling as long as it benefits us in the long run.

Ryan, that don't mean a thing mate. What happened yesterday has boosted the filth and could knock us back, at the worst possible time considering the games we have. Also The Klan are gonna be buzzing after their cup win and chelski are picking up points.

We have to stop assuming - players and fans alike. We need to strive to catch the teams above and attack that purpose. We can never sit back and rest on a points lead or the fact that we may have a better team on paper etc.

All this has to stop and we need to keep pushing and developing all of the time.

We need to change our mindset, that's the key component that is holding us back from truly being on the road to greatness.

Arsenal have Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, and their away games to QPR, Stoke and West Brom won't be straight forward.

Chelsea have Man City, us, Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as a tricky away game to Fulham.

THIS is how much 7 points means.
We lost one game.
It should be a collective kick up the jacksy, and I fully expect it to be so...just like losing 5 - 1 to Citeh was.
Is there any viable reason why we can't go on another massive unbeaten run now, like we did then?

We could have been 3 - 0 if Ade had played Bale in rather than going for it himself - and I, for one, don't believe the Goons would have come back from that. That was with a 4-4-2.

Sagna scored primarily because Bale waved his leg at the ball, pathetically, rather than attacking it aggressively with his head (worried about his barnet, no doubt). That was nothing to do with playing 4-4-2, unless you are saying no team ever would win a corner ever if we played your chosen tactic.

RVP scored their second primarily because our lot allowed him to turn and shoot on the edge of the area. Knowing not to allow that is Sunday League stuff. The Goons are still a decent team, and would have got into similar positions no matter what tactics we used. That was down to pathetic defending, not playing 4-4-2.

Now the 3 second half goals......but that was after we brought Sandro and VDV on, wasn't it.

Actually, I would be more concerned that 'Arry still have Bale roaming about, even though it has done everyone's head in for ages, now - get him back on the fecking wing, let him cut in sometimes; and in not playing Lennon. That was feeble.

I'm not even disagreeing with you, overall - in games like this I would have preferred us to have played a more solid formation, too. But sometimes some fans make this be-all-and-end-all of tactics and assign things to it that just arren't there.

We also could have been 4-2 down, SP we were lucky to be level with them at half time and our 2 nil lead was not deserved in the slightest.

We got exactly what we deserved for being that open...we got dicked in the ass.

Sandro and VDV wern't 100% and the truth is we didn't defend well enough as a side but I believe we didn't give ourselves the best possible chance to do so, set up the way we were.

So what you're saying is if we could play the match tomorrow again you would line up the same way? Not in a million years would I be doing likewise, I would go with the extra man in midfield. (Sorry didn't read the rest of you post because I stopped at the highlighted part, my bad )

How many of us, hand on heart, would put out the same line up if we could play them again tomorrow?

Did you read the whole post?

Because this was close to the end:

All I am saying is, when you break the vital moments down, none of the key ones that meant we went in at 2-2 and on the back foot, rather than, maybe with a significant lead, were down to playing 4-4-2.
And I was as concerned that we played a 4-4-2 with Bale doing anything but being on the left wing, and Lennon being on the bench rather than the wing, made a significant difference.

I edited my last post...

The key point was we had no grip in midfield, they dominated, we sat deep and couldn't defend and they tonked us.
