We got Stupor Pav. Just imagine if we'd got two Rubbish Russians.

Preferably, don't.

There were plenty of people jizzing all over the prospect of signing him (including me) and whilst I can't say I was sorry to see him fail, he did show glimpses of what he's got when he first signed for them, for whatever reason he never kicked on and I think he's a much better player than he showed.

Perhaps the sight of Wengers hooked beaky nose was just too much for him.

Yep, he started well but his drop in form just seemed to occur at the flick of a switch. I remember him saying his body didn't feel the same and he felt a bit heavier, not as light on his feet and it was pretty evident. A strange one though.

He's clearly a player with inmense ability, but he looked lazy and undetermined and only showed his quality on rare occasions, which is why I can imagine how frustrated Arsenal fans must be.

His form seemed to drop when the top rate of income tax went from 40% to 50%.

I think he played behind the striker he would be a lot better

IMO he was trying to use the EPL as a stepping stone to Barca or RM. As soon as it became evident that he was not on their radar his form dropped like a stone.

I also think it was reported that his wife didnt like London. So imagine having to go home to a kranky missus every night.

Not a bad goal return as stated above.

We could have ended up paying a lot of money for him, we really dodged a bullet there.

(At the risk of getting involved in several pages of argument and counter argument  ) That's very easy to say and possibly very wrong :)

Some players seem to 'fit' at a certain club a lot more than they do at others.

Pienaar being a recent example, Van Der Vaart at Madrid is another who springs to mind. People were similarly dismissive of us signing Adebayor for various reasons but not one of the problems mooted has arisen, because he's comfortable here.

There's every chance that he'd have been much more of a success with us given that the football we play would have given him a much more stable environment in which his confidence and ability could have flourished, coupled with Harry's ability to coax the best out of players.

We'll never know of course but as I said, its all too easy to say we dodged a bullet, what is undeniable is that he's a very good player who, at the right club, could be very special.

There is zero risk today because I don't have the energy for it.

Piennar wasn't given a chance to fit, due to him being injured and then when fit can't get into the side due to the form of the first team. I think if he stayed with us next season and we got a CL place, he would get more chances to show what he can do.

VDV actually did pretty well at Madrid but due to injures and competition but I get your point.

I do think he is a good player and I did want him at the club but if we had paid the reported 21 million that Zenit wanted, that would have been a lot for him to live up to.

Don't think he ever played for Arsenal in his best position. He is not a wide midfielder/winger in a million years. Given a run playing behind a striker I think he would of been excellent.

People who score 4 for them against Liverpool turn out to be totally shit.
Maybe RVP will get 4 next week against them.
