Arshavin: I can't even watch Spurs on TV

Andrei Arshavin has revealed he is so unhappy at not joining Tottenham in the summer that he can't even bear to watch them on TV - and will go on strike if Zenit St Petersburg don't sell him in January.

The 27-year-old Russia striker is still fuming about the collapse of his move to White Hart Lane and his mood has not been helped by constant teasing from his team-mates and manager Dick Advocaat on the subject.

Playing - for now: Arshavin (right) gets the better of BATE defender Aleksandr Yurevich in the Champions League this week

The Londoners instead signed Roman Pavyluchencko for £14m from Spartak Moscow leaving Arshavin to rage: 'If Zenit do not put a realistic price tag on me and let me go, I'll stay but only on paper. I do not want to play for them next year - and won't.

'I'm a professional. I try to play for Zenit as well as I can. But do not feel any satisfaction and my teammates don't have any fun playing with me because they see what a state I'm in.

'Four months ago I told the Zenit president that I did not want to stay. I repeated that several times but my words were either not heard or ignored.

'If I do not want to play then I won't. Which is what will happen next year if Zenit and I do not go our separate ways. There's no way for me to quit without a conflict although that wasn't what I wanted.'

Arshavin also admitted he can't even bear to watch Tottenham on TV, adding: 'I don't have to watch their games. I get full reports of their games anyway from everyone. After my unhappy attempt to move to London, everyone at Zenit is interested in Tottenham.

'After each of their matches absolutely everyone has a dig at me about it, starting with Dick Advocaat.'

I still want to see this lad at the Lane, Lets get him in Jan

Now we're starting to win they can't be digging at him any more. I really hope we're still on form him, but my gut instinct says Redknapp won't be looking to spend the best part of £20m on Arshavin.

In many ways I do hope he comes. He'll get the best out of Pav and we need cover when Campbell goes.

I see Modric as more of a technical, central pass-picker, Arshavin is a rapid tear-arsing beast of a driving player.

Arshavin would tear our left side up

If we are going to keep playing Luka as an attacking midfielder behind 1 striker, then we need a left winger in Jan. Arhsavin would be much more suited to Modric's role than he would a left wing role. Personally I'd rather we went for a left footer. Zhirkov would be my preference, hes looked really good eveytime I've seen him, he's younger than Arshavin, is Russian which will help Pav, and also plays for Pavs old club so they will know each other well.

If Arshavin comes, and we want Modric to play aswel, we will need to buy a very strong and direct out and out DM. Otherwise i dont think we can fit both into the team.

Arshavin Pavlyu

Modric
Lennon ................ Bentley

---DM---

Bale .. King .... Woody .. Hutton

Gomes

Anyway, i dont think Harry will want him.

I thought Pav's old club was Spartak Moscow and Arshavin is at Zenit?

Did they play together at one of the above previously? Sorry could probably look up but being a bit lazy!

I still think we have got him on a pre contract, thats why theres now only limited funds for Harry, I don't think its the credit crunch, where's the £30million for Berbatov gone?

These quotes coming out from him in recent days almost sounds to me like he's making sure what happend to him in August doesn't happen again, he will leave them.

Who was it in the ITK dep that said we had agreed to sign him in september on a pre-contract, I remember zenit saying he could sign for us on a pre-contract aswell.

We did blow a lot of money on sacking Ramos and then compensation for Harry... :-(

We should still have at least 50% or more of the fee though surely...

Isn't Arshavin?

If we can play Lennon on the left and Modric in the middle as things stand, we can play Arshavin and Modric the same way.

I don't necessarily hold with this DM obsession either. A class all-rounder who can tackle and pass would do me just fine.
