no he wasn't, this is a classic case of rewriting history. he had one bad game towards the end of the season, against leicester i think, after that he missed the final few games through injury. it's typical of a football fan to only remember the last game, now it's "benny couldn't cut it in the championship" when he was performing perfectly fine and started every game when available. i read qprdot.org weekly to see what they were saying about him and it was almost all positive, i'll take their opinions over a handful of spurs fans with an agenda. he also had a strong showing at the world cup but again, the only thing fans will remember is what he did last and unfortunately that was getting into a fight with a teammate - that wasn't benny's finest hour but then again it's a surpising reaction from someone who is claimed to "not give a fuck" about football.
I have no agenda and it wasn't just against leicester where the wheels started to fall of, he wouldnt block crosses and close down players on the left

Since you read QPR dot every week, find me two fans that want him back?

Here is QPR forums on him
I notice we seem to have done well since playig without BAE.
Cobblers to him.
Bollax to him.....

First half of the season when he was trying (to get Sherwood to take him back to spuds) was a joy to watch.....
He's been in our team all season, they are also his team mates. He couldn't care less, hope that's the last we see of him.
Other threads
I was thinking that his old trick was to fake an injury when the man he was supposed to block had got in and scored.... (Burnley)
Doesn't he usually get injured after he's made a defensive error costing us a goal? Probably about 36 hours early for him.....
BAE looked a class apart earlier in the season. He brought a bit of flair to the teams rather flat performances.

Then he lost interest. He was obviously bored, started to make mistakes and get little 'injuries'. Dare I say, he looked rather 'Bosingwa-esque' and even Redknapp lost patience with him.

Surely we've had enough of this kind of player? Class or not, for me his awful attitude excludes him from playing for my team
That's about right - class player, shit attitude.
It takes more than skill to make a good player. It takes heart as well, of which he has none. His attitude stinks. Whilst I recognise he has ability & skill, I never want to see him in a Rangers shirt again because he just doesn't care.
Technically very gifted individual but, if we signed him, you would need to replace Dunne or Hill wih someone with a bit more pace to play alongside Ned, who could cover some of the errors/lapses in concentration which go with his game.

Have to say when you compare him to Clive Wilson, CW was relaxed but was more aware defensively - think BAE has habit of switching off at certain times.
He seemed to argue with our own players on a few occasions which bought back bad memories from the previous season.

His decision making was bad on a few occasions where he gave away unnecessary goals by dawdling on the ball. I can see why some might've seen that as attitude thing: almost, "if I'm playing in this league, for this team then there is no reason for me to lump it out of play because I'm too good for that" type thing. Or maybe it was just poor decision making.

Finally, for a player as technically gifted as he was, I wanted to see more from him in terms of wanting the ball and using the ball from full back. I never really felt that he desperately wanted the ball or that when he got it he was desperate to hurt the opposition, which he was obviously capable if doing.

He was generally always quite good for our possession play though.
Good. Showboater but an average defender and worse still when the going gets tough. Doubt Spuds will want him back anyway.
To the comment above said:
In a drab season BAE has provided some entertainment, but I think you're right DW.

And, if Yun can continue the form he showed against Borough he's more the kind of player we want than BAE.
Blimey, only a couple of months ago we were all fawning over him. What a class act he was etc.

As I see he's lost interest. Much like many of the fans......
technique, skill, ability. 3 different things. BAE has the technique to perform certain skills, but not the ability to defend. He is lazy, lacks concentration and fight and is therefore hugely overrated. Rubbish signing continuing the doomed philosophy of previous seasons.

Yun from now on please.
Cost us the Burnley match and possibly promotion. Get shot quick. Quality player but he doesn't give a Vac. Yun every time over this nob.

Harsh but true.
Cost us the Reading game too!

hey, soton needs a LB now... :sneaky:

I always supported BAE, but the last 12-18 months confirms it is time to move on. I hope Spurs don't treat him too harshly as they sort out a move.

Good Luck Benny!! :singing:

Ryan Bertrand is at Southampton on loan from Chelsea, slot filled.

Didn't Benny fail 2 medicals in France last summer? If so how are we going to shift him? Not even a whisprt for him this window.

Rather see every player train with the first team tbh, loan him out but not a fan of long-time first team players being marginalised.

I wonder who's decision this is ultimately. Poch, Levy? It would be good to see him around the squad, even if just to warrant the wages we're paying him.

Much as I've always loved Benny he is somewhat of a free thinker and will not necessarily conform to what's expected in terms of training and commitment. This is ok with a Harry Redknapp type who's main asset is man management and getting players happy to do their best and we'll see how it goes.
Younger managers with clear expectations about everyone's role in the team and sharing a vision so that the group will achieve its objectives can't accommodate this type of "maverick" within the squad.
There has also been a number of times over the past year he has fallen out with teammates (both at QPR and with Cameroon). This may be his frustration that his own abilities are on the wane.
I can't see Poch wanting him anywhere near the first team set up, unfortunately.

You would think there would be a canny few team's interested in him.

I didn't mind Benny, his 'attitude' didn't bother me too much whereas Rose's certainly does.

But I think its best for everybody we part ways - lets just hope it's done in the professional manner we get rid of all our long serving players...

He had an utterly shite game aganst Reading, and I can recall a good few more too.

Girlfriends a QPR fan. Said she preferred both Young and Traore at LB than BAE.He was definitely shit for them though. Basically showed the side of him we all disliked, more or less all of the time. Far too lazy and lethargic. And I'll take my girlfriend and her familiy's word, and other QPR fans word over someone with a convenient BAE avatar.

He's gone backwards an awful lot. Not worth his contract anymore. Accept it.
The poor guy had to go and play for QPR, what do you expect? Poor fucker.

I really don't think loans are that valid, Holtby was largely shit for Fulham. Its hard to perform your best when you don't want to be somewhere. This isn't like kids going on loans, this is senior players.

It's like having to go down on Ann Widdecombe. Lets face it, you're not going to do a good job .
