amazing how many times poch's name has been mentioned.

from what i can see and for what it's worth, the gaffer wants to win. and is a fighter.

pity i can't say the same about the players though.

i just had our biggest league match ytd against an unbeaten man utd fan club team for 4 years ytd and every season we'd get smashed. but ytd, we were up for it, we were hungry and we wanted it. led 2-0 at halftime. lack of subs cost us, we tired, and ended 2-2.

my point - are our spurs players even as hungry as us fans pretending to be playing for spurs in a fan club league in wanting to win?

PS: i think Kane, for one, is very hungry.

I'm fearing for us today, I really am. If we lose this then make no bones about it we are bang in the brown stuff. The first goal is absolutely vital, get it and we will go on and win, concede it and we could be staring down the barrel.

just seen the league table didn't realise how far down it we are! Made me think if we lose today and results don't pick up over next month we could be in a spot of bother. What's more worrying is if we did end up in a battle at the wrong end of the table I don't trust any of this current squad to have character to pull us out of it.

Poch can't really afford to lose this today. Goes without saying but pressure will really rise if we lose. Already a massive 11 points behind Southampton.

The odd thing is if we do win today we go up to 6th/7th/8th (depending on results) and will sit 3 points from 3/4th.

The way this thread has started I'm expecting mass suicide if we haven't scored in the first 15 minutes.

I actually think that we will click today. Whether Ade starts or not. We will win at least 3-0.

Optimistic Matty, but Villa are dog shit. I feel a QPR performance and score coming on.

If our chairman sacks good managers, isn't he the one who's crap?
A very contradictory comment imo. But exactly what Levy wants fans to believe, that it's always the managers fault.

...yes, when it comes to running a football team Levy has proved himself to be crap. Every year he tells the fans he shares their aspirations for top four. He has spent as much money as other teams who consistently finish top four yet we've only managed it twice in recent years. IMHO his selection, hiring and firing of managers is the cause of this. The redevelopment of White Hart Lane seems to be enough to redeem him in the eyes if the fans though.

PS: My previous post was not contradictory in any way, managers and chairman can both be crap at the same time.

If villa defend deep and play on the break we could well be in trouble, particularly if benteke finds some form, also, I believe, they've got weiman back in the squad. Not feeling confident, to be honest, this season has a familiar feel to it, like the season 'Arry arrived!!!

Villa were sitting in 2nd place after winning at Liverpool (yes Liverpool lost at home to Villa), however they've played this lot one after another Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton. They've lost them all. I'm not sure we'd do that well against any of those either.

They have just lost 2-0 to QPR but I think QPR are improving all the time and were unlucky not to beat Liverpool and get a draw at Chelsea yesterday.

I'm not convinced that Villa are as crap as everyone thinks. They've won at Stoke and Liverpool, beaten Hull and drawn with Newcastle. They they get that dreadful sequence of fixtures which would break most teams. We're fortunate that we have them after that recent run where their confidence must be at rock bottom.

Right, I've made my excuses should we lose and I'm happy with it

I know. Why would anyone in their right mind hire Tim Sherwood as manager? Not even West Brom and Palace were dumb enough to do that.

...I know, Tim was no way good looking enough for you nightgoat. I get it, it's fine. Whatever our current plight under the dashing Poch don't let the facts such as results and points gained under previous recent but far more unattractive managers, get in the way of your blind devotion.

You clearly buy into their bullshit. We're not a Top 4 team (and many fans now realise that), therefore, when things go badly, you start taking your anger out on the manager.

I think the jury is out on whether Pochettino is the right man for a job as big as Tottenham, but I also think he's been handed a mediocre squad of players who think they're top-a toxic combination. The reason I think he could find himself in trouble is I've watched pretty much every game this season and I've seen very little to suggest we aren't in a battle for survival. We lack power, pace and aggression along with technical quality. Levy and Lewis might have the best intentions but if they see relegation they will panic. Then they have two options: 1.Sack Poch, send for Hoddle and hope for a results bounce.
2. Spend on players in January.

I would prefer the latter but the former is cheaper.

If Poch plays Ade again then he can do one as far as I'm concerned. It will prove he knows naff all about football. I can't say I'm that impressed with him anyway. Southampton played the way they do before Poch came, and they are still playing it after he has gone. Yet he can't get our lot to implement the pressing game. o_O What does that tell you?? A: either our players are totally brain farts. B: Poch is a fraud. If it's A then he needs to get his arse off the bench and shout the crap out of them from the touch line until they get it. If it's B then I guess we will find out pretty soon.
If you think Southampton played the way they did before Poch came, then you didn't watch Southampton before Poch joined them.

Anyone with even a scrap of recent Premier League knowledge knows that he changed them.
