BBC Live Text
Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham - MOM Harry Kane
Six minutes extra time
89 mins GOAL Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham - Harry Kane
"He fancied it, Harry Kane, he got the ball immediately after the free-kick was awarded. There was a deflection off Nathan Baker as he jumped and Brad Guzan could do nothing about it. Kane has made a huge impression since he has come on."
84 mins GOAL Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham - Nacer Chadli
A really poor goal to concede, and Spurs are level! Their extra man finally counts. Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen challenge for a corner, they don't make contact but Nacer Chadli comes in behind them and steers home a volley from six yards out.
79 mins Yellow Card Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham - Nacer Chadli
72 mins SUBSTITUTION Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham
Etienne Capoue is replaced by Andros Townsend as Spurs go for it.
69 mins Yellow Card Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham - Andreas Weimann
Retribution from Andreas Weimann, who volleys Ryan Mason in the thighs near the touchline. A really poor tackle, and Weimann is booked for his troubles. May be more red cards on the agenda tonight yet...
64 mins RED CARD Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham - Christian Benteke
Referee Neil Swarbrick reaches into the back pocket - it's a red card for Christian Benteke!
60 mins Yellow Card Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham Jan Vertonghen.
Bit of a crowd scene and plenty of scuffling after Jan Vertonghen goes in two-footed, he does win the ball but is still booked for his troubles. For a minute there I thought referee Neil Swarbrick was considering a red.
58 mins SUBSTITUTION Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham
Here he is! Harry Kane is on, in place of Emmanuel Adebayor. He's a cup specialist - he's never scored in the Premier League. A big unit though, he wins a corner instantly with some direct running.
46 Mins Substitution
Erik Lamela is indeed on in place of Christian Eriksen at the break. Can he lift Spurs?
Half Time Villa 1-0 Spurs :censored:
25 mins Yellow Card Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham
Christian Eriksen goes into the book, for a very cynical challenge on Charles N'Zogbia
16 mins GOAL Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham - Andreas Weimann
Here it is! Two months of waiting comes to an end as Aston Villa finally score! It's a good goal too, Charles N'Zogbia beating his man on the right, looking up and picking out Andreas Weimann in the middle, he's on the stretch but toes it into the bottom corner.
Nine hours and seven minutes of waiting comes to an end...

The last PL goal Villa scored against us came in a 1 all draw at Villa Park in May 2012.
The goal was scored by Ciaran Clark with Adebayor scoring from the spot in a game that saw Danny Rose sent off.

I do think we'll win this. Villa are beyond terrible at the moment and we'll get a lot more space as we're away from home.

Watched them on MNF and, they were horrendous. They miss the energetic Delph in midfield.
I would actually be less confident if this was at WHL.

Away games bring a sigh of relief. We'll have too much for them whoever we field but if Pochettino would pick Kane and Soldado I think we could get up and running properly.

One of my favourite away games that....boxing day as well IIRC.

The best ball of the game though was Modric to Hutton, who squares for VDV, for the first goal.

Those were the days!

Modric :notworthy:
Bale
VDV
Hutton :shifty:

Strange one this, does Lambert stick or twist, not having won or scored in 5 games i think the crowd will be pissed off if he sets them up to just sit and soak up pressure, he will be dying to do it i'm just not sure the crowd will let him.

Fully expect it to be an open game.

Hopefully plays into our hands then.
Would do. If it's open that means space and space is always good for us at the moment, as we struggle to play when players are tight on us. Won't always be like that though, but is at the stage we are at.

We will always have players tight on us to a degree, it's the nature of the league were in, teams are more willing to sit back and let us do all the work, hassle and hit us on the break.

Think we're going to get a win here or a draw at least, Villa are a terrible side and even worse when playing at home. I feel sorry for their fans having to watch shit football week in week out for the past 3 seasons with no ambition in cup competitions and possible relegation every year, and we think we have it bad.
