Depends on what you class as bigger but on what they have won, you can argue they are bigger.

Really? We've won two major European trophies to their one (I'm not counting the Super Cup), they've won one league title since the 1910s compared to our two, their last FA Cup win was in 1957, and their last trophy of any kind was the League Cup in 1996.

Still club achievements. You don't just write off past achievements after a certain amount of years, do you?

I do.

If you look at the records of clubs like Preston or even Huddersfield (won the title three times) that success was from a completely different era. Nobody would consider Preston to be a bigger club than Spurs these days, and for good reason.

Villa were a big club in the Victorian era. We've been a much bigger club for literally a century.

To be honest, before reading that wiki page, I thought they had won more than they have. Personally I don't write of past achievements but at the same time, I was born in 1990 so I haven't seen anything about us that tells me we are a big club other than one decent champions league run. The only thing that tells me we are big is our trophy cabinet and my dad.....o and @CosmicHotspur

Don't get me wrong. The whole reason I started this thread was because I thought it surprising that such a big club as Villa are about to get relegated, and even said that I thought they were very similar to us and Everton in terms of history and size.

However, over the last 100 years we've been a lot more successful than them, and over the last ten years we've been better than them. I wouldn't call them a bigger club than us.

It's going to be just us, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Man United and Liverpool left as the only ever-present Prem teams.

Id be interested to compare both our fanbase in the uk.

Is it just me or is the fact that Villa are going down isn't getting the attention it deserves?

They're one of the small number of clubs that have been part of the Premier League since the beginning. A few years ago they were going toe-to-toe with us in the race to qualify for the CL. They're undoubtedly the biggest club in the Midlands, and have a pretty big following.

I've always seen Villa as a similar club to Spurs and Everton - a club with a rich history and a lot of supporters, but which has failed to achieve modern day success. The fact that they're obviously going down seems to have been accepted rather casually, when for me it would be one of the most notable relegations since Leeds thankfully vanished from relevant football.

Never used to have an issue with Villa until some twat called HoltLegend on 606 used to routinely troll the Spurs forum, followed by briefly living with a monumental fuckwit of a Villa season ticket holder. For me, Villa's pathetic form is one of the biggest and most amusing stories of the season.

Why is it not getting attention? Pretty simple really. It is not a fact that they are going down.
Allow it to become a mathematical reality. Until it does, there are current factual football stories which are much bigger than the possible (albeit probable) relegation of Villa. Equally strange or stranger things have happened than a Villa resurgence.

That's good of Micah to do that. Really rate him for that.

Always seemed like a decent guy.

Not an argument at all, just passionate fans who are upset and want answers.

Still want them to go down though.

Why?

Not disputing your facts but when Jol was manager Villa was one of our closest opponents, and for the 4 years from 2007/08 to 2009/10 they were 6th, a place lower than us on average.

So a big fall from top 6 to relegation.
