Feel a bit sorry for the Villa fans. Their team are'nt even putting up a fight against relegation, since before Christmas Villa have just given up trying to stay in the Premiership.

Being shit is one thing, but not putting up a fight to stay in the Prem is totally unacceptable.

Villa have been so badly managed and run that I can easily see a double relegation and Villa going the way of Sheffield Wednesday, Forest and Leeds.
Agree on the double relegation. This side have no redeemable quality. With a lot of relegation sides you can mark a player or two who will be important in getting them back up. Even last year, QPR had Austin and Phillips, Burnley lost Ings and Trippier but reinvested well in Gray and Barton, Hull had some good players in Dawson, Hudd, Hernandez.

This Villa squad is just shit and the only player they could get some sort of cash for is Ayew. But going down they won't have much bargaining power and would probably have to let him go for a small fee which isn't going to fund any decent transfers. With Lerner not investing anything either, I think this is the last we'll see of Villa for quite a few years

It'll be a shame to see them go down, but it's been a long time coming. Another club deserves a chance.

Villa are so bad that I am kind of starting to feel sorry for them and their fans. Like others have said many this relegation has been coming for a few years though.

I concur with the sympathy , massive well supported Club, great ground, good away day being taken from us because of shit owner & poor decisions on & off the pitch.

I agree! Very selfish of Lerner not to consider Spurs fans having a good away day in his decision to massively underinvest

Incredibly Villa are still 'only' 8 points from the drop

Which tells us 2 things:

(i) If they had of had a real good go at recruiting some decent players in January (and a decent manager) they'd probably avoid the drop

(ii) All the other teams down there have been nearly (or equally) as shite as Villa

I like the fact that if Villa had beaten Everton 56-0 last night, they'd still be behind our goal difference.

I don't really feel the sadness about seeing them going down. They've been piss poor for years and their fans have to be one of the leagues worst, any I've spoke to still have delusions they're a bigger club than us.

I actually think Garde is a decent manager. The Villa supporters even seem to think of him as the right manager but coming in at the absolute wrong time. I give the guy credit for not quitting when Villa didn't give him anything to make additions in January.

Thats the general consensus I've heard too. A Villa fan in the office is adament that if Garde had come in when Sherwood did they'd be 14th or 15th right now with no immediate relegation danger.

He seems like a decent guy and should have his best managerial years ahead of him, so hope his reputation isn't tarnished by having to work for this shower of shite of an owner.

Sobering reading Villa's accounts: £27m loss, wages up £14m, CEO's pay up £990k, commercial revenue down, turnover down. Team rock bottom.

On a lighter note. How could the Villa owner be a multi millionaire with the footballing advisors and managers he's had - must have started as a billionaire. :):):):)

They moaned and bitched about Doug Ellis but I bet they wish they had him still. I find the thought of us being bought by Americans extremely uncomfortable.

Probably the worse chairmen in Prem history. He's had the club up for sale a long time but I suspect he's valued in way to high trying to get a big return on his investment
Villa fans are doing the right thing of not bothering to turn up anymore or leaving half way through. Hit him were it hurts, the team have already given up and aren't playing for guard at all so why bother

They need someone to rescue the club quick. don't think they'll vanish into the lower leagues as the size of the city probably means there will always be enough to keep them a championship at least

I saw this stat last week. It's amazing how they have become so bad, brought in unknowns but made a massive loss and wages have gone up - is this pre or post the sale of Benteke?!

They have been sliding since the O'Neill days. The wage bill figures were out of control then.

I feel sorry for the fans, they have been through thick and thin, they used to moan about Doug Ellis but Lerner thought a Prem club would be a cash machine - and it should be - but the mismanagement has been off the scale. It's also sad to see one of England's great clubs fall into such disrepair. As one of the commentators said in the 2nd half, those glories seem such a long time ago now.

When they go down, it'll be a long time until they come back. The squad will need a complete overhaul. They will lose a lot of the high paid players, Garde will probably go, and then they need to start again. Bringing on Andre Green was a good start, he's been performing above his age level for a while now but Grealish has all but vanished!!

I feel sorry for them - see a lot of us in them. Ridiculous their fans basically getting assaulted by stewards today for waving a "Lerner Out" flag. It was like something out of some communist/dictatorship nation.

Fuck 'em.

I respect the club, its history, and its reputation as a big club, but most fans of theirs that I've met have been comparable to the bin dippers. They only have themselves to blame too.
