We should've signed Matheiu Bodmer before he went to Lyon. He wasn't getting much games there at first but now he's established himself as first team regular.

Why 2177, what happens then

We're all dead - regardless of whether ancient Mayan prophecies come true or not.

Of course, if Dick "Dr Strangelove" Cheney decides to nuke Iran next week, we could all be dead a bit sooner...

Jenas is the only midfielder I would keep. We buy back carrick and sign bentley and arteta along with a kepper and wes brown on a free transfer

So 5 new players

Are you 'avin a bubble, bubble?.................

I dont believe any of this Carrick stuff, he wouldn't want to come back, especially as he's getting plenty of games at United(unless they've bagged Miguel Veloso already in which case Carrick may be surplus to requirements).

Bentley's good but overpriced, I think we should let our scouts earn they're money and find a cheaper option.

I dont think Arteta is a Ramos kind of winger, he's not all that quick. I think he's better suited to a creative centre midfield role to be honest.

I wouldnt mind Brown though. I'm not sure if he'd fancy a move to us though, especially as he'd blatantly be on the bench when Ledleys fit.

I agree about Arteta - Ramos would play him as a disciplined, tempo-dictating, CM (as in Arteta's pre-Everton days), and definitely not as a wide midfielder. But he would be a good CM signing.

Whereas I think Brown is overrated. He's good, but his numerous injuries have prevented him becoming the top class player he might have been. Plus I'm always a bit sceptical when a career sicknote suddenly has an amazingly injuryfree year when it's Bosman time.

1st Choice - Diego - would be awesome, but can't see it happening

2nd Choice - Deco - would be an awesome player and will be leaving Barcelona, but his attitude can be a bit of a problem possibly

Yeah, can't see us buying a central AM unless it's a central AM who can also play on the wing. That might be useful.

I'm not sure playing with that type of player would work in the Premiership, they're not given enough space. No other teams do it. Some teams play with a second striker dropping off like Keane, but a proper Kaka/Diego/VdV type attacking mid not really. For instance if AC Milan played their system in the premiership would they be successfull? Kaka is they're main creative force, but I'm not sure he would be so great in the premiership. Thinking about it thats probably got alot to do with why Sheva's been so rubbish over here, because the style of play is so different.

Gotta agree with Van Pommel on the system debate-id be extremely worried about playing someone like Diego in a 4-4-2 formation in the Premiership-we'd probably get torn to shreds by most teams, especially as there is seemingly a shift towards a 4-5-1 formation for most teams in the league at the minute. If we had two electric wingers that could create then i dont think Jenas and Zokora would actually be that bad an option-both are combative, quick and strong and would probably look much better players if the emphasis of creating was taken off their shoulders.

So does Ronaldinho.

Arshavin may be a bit cheaper and bit more motivated.

But, hey, if Ronnie's people are talking to Man City, then we have to have a chance. However, I can't see Ronnie playing wide midfield in a Ramos 4-4-2 unless Juande's really in a kamikaze mood.

Bale/Gilberto and Ronnie down the left flank? That's a recipe for seven-goal thrillers.

Actually, I hope Abramovich switches his attentions from Berba to Ronnie, and ends up with Barca's ultra-expensive & currently misfiring attack of Henry & Ronaldinho next season. Ronnie as the "new Shevchenko"....

depends if berbs is about.. if he's not then Riquellme and we'd have a chance of pursuading him too i think. If berbs is about then a luxury CM in a 442 is not what we need. we need to keep a high energy player to press high up the pitch and a deepr CM to hold and cover WINGERS supporting the CF's.

If berbs is off then us playing bent and keane etc isn't creative enough upfront so shift emphasis and play riquellme as a no.10 behind bent or keane with 2 more CM's and 2 wingers...

ah shucks don't listen to me.

Diego started out as a second striker behind Robinho for Santos and that's exactly what he is. You'd be sacrificing Keane either way. Unless Berba goes and you played Diego behind Keane...
