AVB has been quoted publicly several times saying he wants to retire from football at 40

He's 36 this year. That leaves him under five years to do everything he wants to do in the game if he sticks by his word, and he strikes me as the kind of guy who probably will. He also previously traded his home-country champions, and team he supported, after a single year of success to go to Chelsea. This is also the first time he's ever gone into a second season at a club.

Stack all that up and as much as I like AVB, the odds on him leaving in a year or two, regardless of how we do, I would argue, will be pretty short. I would suspect he'll want a shot at a Real or Barca before he's through. So I guess it depends on whether he sticks to his timeline

A bit of colour isn't a bad thing. Harry says what's on his mind which isn't always a bad thing either. I'd know he would have teared him into Perez and Zidane.

Arry would just have likely have undermined levy. "I dont really see the difference between 70 and 100 million, but im a football manager, not a banker. Whou would have ever thought that spurs had a player that expensive? They should sell him early so that i have time in the window. When youre talking silly money, is 20 million really that important?"

When he win the Premier League and the Europa League,
what else can he realistically achieve with Spurs?
Can see him leave in a year

How many times was it reported Fergie would retire before he finally did? I think if we hit the ground running now, he may change his mind. Show him our love and I think he'll stay for quite a long time. Then again, 4 years is a long time at one club nowadays, so who knows.

I don't think the two are comparable. Ferguson was an old man putting off the slippers. AVB wants to go and live an entirely different life while he still can

I actually love AVB all the more for that. But yeah, we'll see what happens

He can still do the Dakar rally when he is 45/50

I remember him saying he would love to coach somewhere unexpected too, I think he mentioned Brazil.

The Chelsea thing may have scarred him. They never took to him and it was always a case of 'right, impress us' from the get go with their crap support. We have been behind him ( in the majority ) from day one and that's grown.
