Good luck, at least we have a point after two games this season..

Just wait until the the old but we won the next 10.... yeah great, but what about the consistent end of year flop under Harry, but anyway it doesn't really matter what we got last season. That was last season and we got our first point and a manager who knows what he is doing and being fair to the players that never had a chance under harry. But more importantly we don't look like getting 2 points from 8 games, the way we played today until our better players got tired, we was quality with lots of great cross and chances and some awesome movement, we was fucking good. If we keep AVB, I really think we can become something great.

We have a mountain of dead wood that has been left to rot for far too long at least AVB is giving them a chance like he said he would and respecting the players, which is a damn sight more that what Harry did for his fringe players.

So talking about last season is pfft to me, as it really pissed me off.

True but at the moment we don't have these players and even if we do get them AVB needs a chance to work with them.

And Rodgers has to with his, and de matteo with his, and laudrup with his, etc.

Being new does not excuse you

I would rather Spurs take their time and get it right for the future and for the last 10 years we have been moving forward and getting stronger and better. Rather than completely screw ourselves over financially and be in a position where we need sugar daddy to bail us out, just because fickle fans with that kind of attitude can't and wont see the bigger picture of what we are trying to achieve.

We are a non-CL team and we got the likes of Vert wanting to come to us, who is going to be a greater player if he continues like he did today.

The futures bright, in patience we trust.

Personally I dont think this is realistic.

With the squad that Man City already have, Utd strengthening slightly and Arsenal and Chelsea improving I cant see a place for us. this is not me being negative but being realistic at what we have to compete with. Really this echoes what Mullers said.

The loss of Modric will/has been big and we will get the same sort of quality in a replacement? im not sure.

My current prediction for the end of season table looks like:

Man City
Chelsea
Man Utd
Arsenal
Everton
Spurs
Liverpool

This is based on our current squad so we will have to wait on what will happen, but I think it is unfair on AVB to place these targets on him, yes it is more a less the same squad as last year which achieved but the strengthening of the other sides is hard to compete with. Really hope we do get fourth though!!

So if it's based on our current squad are you saying you beliece Everton have a better squad than us?

I think we will be 5th at worst and it will be a battle between ourselves and the Goons for 4th!

for whatever reason we purchase so late, it's what happens. therefore lets hope that once the transfer business is concluded AVB has the players he wanted and we roar on from there! COYS!

It is disappointing that we conduct our business this way, and 1 of the reasons why I did not renew my season ticket this year. It's almost like the club don't take it as serious as they should in my opinion. It also unrealistic to mount a serious challenge in this way and why I believe 4th is all the club is aiming for which is unfair on those who spend their hard earned cash on tickets each week.

In short we have not made 4th place any easier to chase for ourselves let alone anything better.

he is even more deluded than i think he is if he thinks we will get 4th playing like we did today.. im living in hope we will sign half a team next week and completely change that team that started today but not likely, i know.

This is the dumb opinion that has been spouted so often it is taken as fact. If a manager doesn't know his arse from his elbow then keeping him for ten years will only condemn you to failure. You cannot just stick with any old manager and after a certain amount of time a magical thing happens where all of a sudden all the shit he does turns to gold.

I don't think the board have ambitions beyond Champions League revenue. Otherwise they would have seriously backed Harry financially over the past two seasons. Particularly last Christmas window.

No i dont belive they have a better squad but i think they have a v strong starting 11 and historically they are slow starters but finish well. Tahat doesnt seem the case at the mo (though it is early days) the advantage they have is a settled manager who has improved their team with limited funds. AVB And the boys are still trying to find their feet after a large amount of upheavel. TAhat is the advantage Everton have.

I dont think it's possible to replace instantly, I think it took modric time to settle. It will take whoever we get in to settle also.

The modric sale was going to happen regardless of finding a replacement or not I guess?

I'd be looking to bolster the strikers with the cash.

I ask you is Modric replaceable? If so who?

Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that the minimum requirement from his debut season at Tottenham is a fourth-placed finish.

The north London club finished in the top four last season under Harry Redknapp but missed out on Champions League football due to Chelsea's victory against Bayern Munich in May's final.

The Portuguese boss has implemented new training structures at White Hart Lane since his arrival in the summer as well as altering the team's formation.

But despite these changes Spurs began the new Premier League season with defeat at Newcastle last weekend.

However, Villas-Boas is confident that his changes will make his side harder to beat in time and admitted that only another top-four spot would be good enough for chairman Daniel Levy.
He said: "Top four is what was proposed to me and that's what I accepted."

If this is true then I think the board is being extremely unfair and unrealistic, he starts the new season with one hand tied behind is back and he's expected to get top four. We're just going to go through manager after manager with that kind of target.

Maybe the board is extremely unfair but AVB is extremely stupid to announce such things.

Different sort of player, but out of the entire list of central midfielders that we have been linked to Pjanic is the most 'modricesque' in my eyes.

I think Moutinho is a good replacement available at 25 million if reports are to be believed.

Why not? We came 4th last year

Others below us have strengthened and we have not , in fact we will probably have a weaker squad come the end of the window

Personally I think 4th place is beyond us this season but I would also like to be proved wrong

6th to 8th placed finish I can see , but also a Cup win

Levy made his bed when he sacked Redknapp and hired AVB , he now must lie in it and that means giving the guy time and not setting unrealistic initial targets

4th is a minimum. 10 games in is enough to see whether the players can/would implement ideas. If we continue to play this way we have to get rid.

Because we have lost modric surely people can see that.
We won't make 4th this season but then neither did harry in his first year, this is about ongoing success not just coming fourth this year and that's how we need to judge it, by end of season it's not where we are its where we are going.
