Here's another one for you to doh. AVB has been fantastic.

But today with the absence of Lennon, I think Bale should have played LW and Holtby or Sigurdsson behind Defoe. We suffered from a lack of width and penetration today.

I thought we suffered from Walkers clusterfuck and BAE pathetic attempt at a challenge in the box from a Defoe assist, more than anything.

I don't see why. We created more than them, off and on target. Looked very much in control 2nd half of the game.

AVB can't control the stupid errors that cost us the game though.

There's nothing quite like being wise after the event. Guess we could all pick the right team with the benefit of hindsight.

We didn't lose because of AVB's tactics or personnel he picked in the absence of Lennon - we lost because of fucking attrocious individual errors.

No need for a tactical autopsy.

Thats true. But I think we would we would have had as much pressure on the defence had we have a wide outlet. 4 central midfielders with little pace kept the pressure on Dawson and Vertonghen. But yeah, daft mistakes too.

Apart from two individual errors, I thought he got it spot on.

I actually thought we looked more free flowing than we have for most of the season. Dembele was running the game all over the place. We weren't static at all.

Livermore might have been an odd conclusion but when you think of it like this.

If Holtby started in place of Livermore we'd be left open to Liverpool at home who are in great fork spanking teams 4/5 nil. Also not to mention Holtbys knack for running himself into the ground by the 60th minute and then we are left without any game changers.

Huddlestone would not be able to handle liverpools pressing as he is only decent given space in the center circle. A poor mans Michael Carrick.

Carroll is not ready to start games especially away at annfield.

I thought we did great today especially so considering we don't have any one close to being a natural backup for Lennon and seeing as how bale is the only one scoring for us lately he has to be upfront.

AVB did put on Livermore but Livermore did not lose us the game and we grew into it.

So, despite his limitations and AVB's choice we were winning it.

Blame it all on two brainless twats assisting Liverpool. Think best pass Defoe's played since he last scored for us.

Livermore played a big part in the first goal and it was his poor control that led to the corner for the 3rd. Dembele/Parker are the core of our teams defensive abilities these days, putting Dembele wide right was needless and only made it more difficult for ourselves.

Not to mention the team looked knackered by the 70th min having played on Thursday and no sub was made until 85th.

I understand what you are saying and of course it is true, but there is more to it.

We sucked second half. The amount of long balls we played up to Defoe recalled the worst matches of the Redknapp era. I guess it doesn't help when you have Livermore and Parker in midfield, they are horrible.

Holtby would have played wide right leaving Dembele/Parker(our main defensive/passing point) together that have served us so well lately and works just as hard as Lennon does.

What does it matter about Holtby being knackered by the 60th if he is only going to come on in the 85th anyway?

i didn't like the selection of livermore but it was working fine until we decided to blow ourselves up, that has nothing to do with avb.

We had more shots on and off target, we had the greater share of possession and we had more corners against a team who generally dominate most of those stats, certainly possession at Liverpool. Only downside is they scored more goals, largely down to two or three complete fucking idiots.

Imo, we should've played Carroll instead of Livermore but I understand the reasons why AVB chose Livermore.

Do you just start threads for the sake of it?

Biggest tactical issue I had in the end was that when we were hoofing it up the pitch in desperation at the end we brought on our smallest player (Carroll ) instead of our tallest and best header of a ball (Caulker).

Apart from that, as has been said, things were working well until individual brainfarts cost us.

Did AVB have it slightly wrong when were 2 - 1 up and the post saved Liverpool from being 3 -1 down?
