Yes the errors were bad. But it has alot to do with the formation and team selection.

When we play four slow central midfielders away from home, the defence is bound to be pressurised.

Lennon and Bale on the wings provide an outlet for the defence to have a breather. With Lennon out, and Bale anonymous and well marked centrally, we never had an outlet ball.

Walker was under pressure all game. Lennon usually does a great job of defending in front of Walker, and doubling up. Walker was exposed for both goals.

I think AVB has to take some responsibility for not playing Bale wide to give us some penetration. In the absence of lennon. Hoepfully he will learn.

Dont understand why we didnt play this, it would have been much better.

Bale.......holtby......Sig
.......Parker..Dembele

we dominated them the way he set us up. if avb has any responsibility for the errors, it's in the late subs, as holtby or other could have come on to help us retain our shape. but perhaps that would have caused some other errors. there's no way to know

conclusion is, there's only so much avb can do. the rest is up to the players, and it was the players at fault today more than avb

Players make mistakes and i wont slaughter them for that, especially the way they have been performing, but, yes there is a but, Benny's persona is starting to really piss me off, even at kick off he had me seething as he made himself look like a right **** by being the only player to be standing in the team huddle, and was anyone suprised he would be the player to barge into Suarez like he did without even a flicker of remorse on his face, his whole 'whatever' attitude is getting boring, i really think he needs replacing this summer.

Watchin the highlights, Walkers moment of madness, Lloris doing some sort of ballerina kick, and to top it off through vertonghen's
legs. And defoes pass to the lesbian? Huge brain fart for us, Hopefully a huge wake up call.
So yes, Moments of madness lead to the loss, maybe they should buy me for right back, ill play for 5000 a week and im sure i could do better than walker.

No, we were winning and on top and would have quite possibly gone on to score again. We lost because of their BAD mistakes.

How the hell do Walker and Defoe's fuck ups have anything to do with the formation?

Agree - they don't.

One miss control.
One missplaced pass.

Simple errors plenty of players - even the best in the world - make in every match. The only thing different here were the consequences.

I think it is more simple than that. We were out playing them until the cock ups. All of the cock ups were down to mental tiredness IMO.

Not too sure I would blame BAE, Defoe put him in that position and even if it was a 3 year old kid that had touched Mr Dodd, he would have gone down.

So to summarize it:

Walker lost his head "again" Hugo tried to bail him out but failed. Defoe is coming back from injury (but still no excuse for that mistake) and BAE was put in a difficult position because of that, with Mr Dodd conning the ref.

Now we can remain the fickle fans we appear to be or we can put it down to errors (which actually do happen, even to the best players in the world) and look at our overall performance. Considering we just played on Thursday, I thought we looked fresh for most of the game and played well with an unbalanced team. I truly think the Spurs of old where we would lose a game and heads would drop and we'd go on a losing streak is in the past, AVD and his team won't allow it.

L'Pool on the other hand played like a team that could possibly finish 8th or even 9th. I have a great deal more hope as a Lilly White than if I was a Bindipper (y)

had no problem with the line up after we went up 2-1. just a couple of cock ups. hopefully the players don't sulk as long as the lot of us.

Dembele bossed from the right but he is much more needed in the middle and Holtby is too inexperienced in the PL to play on the right against that team yesterday.

It is what it is.

But I am still adamant about Defoe being a super sub and not much more on the road.

To me there were 3 key moments that cost us the game (obviously I suppose)

The one that frustrated me the most was Sig wasting a glorious chance after Bale tore Liverpool a new one

He bottle the volley firstly, but controlled well but then had a open Defoe he ignored and shot instead wasting the chance for us to pretty much wrap the game up

I think we set up well enough, Liverpool played well and were worth a point for my money but at 2-1 we were in complete control and they looked beaten until Walker lost his head and played a suicidal back pass. Lloris was unlucky with the bounce of the ball, it fell in a position he could neither get a strong connection with his head not foot and JV was also unlucky with his goal line cleareance attempt

To me the Defoe moment is even worse, why play a ball backwards after that had already cost us so dearly? I really hope we upgrade our striking options this summer because for my money neither he nor Ade match the quality we have elsewhere on the pitch, not consistently anyway. BAE made a silly challenge he didn't need to make

But to answer the OP.....yes it is as simple as 3 silly errors costing us a win because aside from that we went to Anfield against and in form and dangerous Liverpool side and played well and were on course to record an excellent victory had it not been for said indivdual errors.

Very very frustrating because it undoes our work in winning the NLD and let's Arsenal back in potentially (not to mention Chelsea)

I think AVB should have gone with Bale wide left for last 20. He was getting snuffed out down the middle.
