I really wanted AVB to succeed :(... I wonder who will replace?
...

I did too! Although yesterday he didn't seem to have a clue.

I was a bit surprised at the quickness of his firing though.

Didn't we just win our group in Europe?

Time is the most important thing to be given as a manager.

The thing is, over the 18 months you have to be able to buy time with shreds of improvement. People harp on about Alex Ferguson and his poor start, but there were signs at the club that things were improving, particularly with the youth setup. This decision hasn't been taken solely because of recent hammerings I'm sure, it's been taken because there hasn't even been a tiny shred of evidence to suggest the style of football is progressing - and I include last season in that.

And we have the temerity to have a variety of "let's all laugh at..." threads on here.

I'd say we've been the biggest joke in the history of the Premier League.

It is amusing that people who wanted AVB gone for playing conservative football are advocating Capello. I wonder how long they would give him if they judge on the same criteria!?...

In an ideal world I would like Klopp. He is never going to win he League in Germany and seems to be one switched on guy.

Capello will get slaughtered for negative, defensive football.

Sherwood is just a farcical choice.

Hoddle hasn't worked in the top flight for fuck knows how long.

Yea, the grass is much greener eh folks?!?

Jeez..............
oh yeah, i forgot that sherwood, capello and hoddle are our only choices.

Man, I am loving all the 'agrees' I'm getting today. Saying some of this shit two weeks ago would've got me a large slice of 'disagree' with a 'WTF?' topping and a side of 'doh'.

Bring on the disagrees, dohs and wtfs.

No surprise really, performances and recent results have not been acceptable for what was spent during the window.
The boy's done well out of us and Chavski hasn't he? Bet he ends up at Porto as it was mentioned somewhere last week.
Capello odds on I'd imagine.

as a temporary manager

It's like breaking up with a really beautiful girl because, despite all her knowledge about the nutritional value of food, she just can't cook and her one decent meal is getting old.

Farewell, Andre. I'll never forget how we lept at Old Trafford. But I'll also never forget 0-3 at home to West Ham. Maybe we should delete numbers?

Blae had 4 yrs left on contract... Ignore him, let him strike whatever. After 2 months hed get ridicule and would have had to play... Levy needs to grow a set...

World. Record. Fee.

Even if Bale fired us to the Champions League (which in his previous seasons he didn't), it would take 2-3 years of consecutive qualifications to equal that fee.

Do you think Utd wanted to sell Ronaldo? Were Juventus eager to ditch Zidane? Arsenal wanted rid of Van Persie? Dortmund needed to lose Gotze? Of course not. All teams believed fervently that replacing one unhappy superstar with a host of quality replacements would be for the betterment of their team in the long run. Utd kept winning titles after Ronaldo, Juventus were vastly improved after Zidane, and Arsenal are enjoying life after Van Persie.

AT what stage does LEVY start to shoulder a serious proportion of blame?

As a businessman he's unrivaled in the league, the plan to make us grow and give us a new stadium is what we need to be able to compete long term and what we need to compete for titles.

But his footballing decisions have been very poor.

Quite simply, he chose the wrong manager when appointing AVB. He should have gone for Rodgers or Martinez.

He didn't back Harry when we were just one/two players shy of competing for top 3, yet gave Baldini 100 Million to spend on unproven talents.

His business model is spot on, but he's clearly not a footballing man. He doesn't make the right decisions at the most crucial times.

The regular turnover of managers at our club showcases this perfectly.

Quick call to Harry maybe? ;)

I'm jesting obviously but Levy has made a complete mess of things.

Another "transitional" period coming up. Its like an old Spurs comfort blanket, warm and familiar.

I'm not a fan of Capello but he's won the league with every club he has managed. Admittedly, his reputation took a battering with the way he managed England ... but in his defence, been successful with England was never going to happen.

In the last 3 seasons he managed at club level one he got sacked for being too boring despite winning the league, and the other 2 it took interference with the officials to get them to win the league, and this was a team that contained Del Piero, Ibrahimovic, Vieira, Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro and Nedved! Also that was all getting on for 7 years ago, football has changed a lot and I would question if he's up to speed with that.

He's also a massive wanker.

Worth mentioning that Capello has won the fucking Champion's League before all of you think he's beneath us.

Capello is a good manager the media simply had it in for him, id be happy to have him right now but I dunno how it would work with his WC with Russia.
