Pochettino is a bigger gamble than keeping AVB.

You know why Pochettino is working? Complete and utter understanding between chairman and manager. Is he going to have that here?

I'm not feeling good about the decision. It just feels like we've taken yet another step back. Is this season another write-off? I was feeling low yesterday but I would have liked to see AVB continue to work with the squad for a while longer. He does have the best win percentage in many years. It just goes to show what pressure a manager has now. Finish one season with the highest points total ever, have a poor run of games the next and you're finished.

We were totally played off the park yesterday but I don't think it would have been such a heavy score without the dodgy red card. If we had lost 0-2 would he have been sacked?

That makes no difference whatsoever on the actual football pitch or tactically.

I wouldn't trust Levy to put sugar in my tea if I asked him to.

Pochettino would be mental to leave Soton for us.

Such a shame we didn't sack AVB a couple of weeks ago as we have missed out on getting Tony Pulis. ;)

This just adds to the horrible feeling I've got right now that's been caused by the stuff banging around last night, that Levy went into this whole thing with an "I know best" attitude and has totally screwed up whatever team plan AVB had and we've been muddling around trying to fit square pegs into round holes since.

I just hope we keep our expectations in check for our new gaffer. We missed the boat on Rodgers and Martinez. really have. But i remember when 'arry went, there was an air of them two being beneath us by our fans. It's rare that such young managers have clear footballing philosphies. I guess AVB did as well though.

If we have a temporary coach for the rest of the season you really have to ask whats the point in firing AVB. We could have let the season play out and maybe win a trophy and if not then you could say that he hadn't made the seasons goals and then fire him in the summer giving us plenty of time to sound out some candidates.

Levy is a joke and if we appoint the Saints boss based on a few good wins this season he has well and truly lost it.

AVB was a king last season, what a silly pathetic and amateur situation we find ourselves in.

I really like what Pochettino is doing at Southampton but I agree with you.

Also, it's a moot point to suggest he'll develop our youngsters and give them game time akin to Southampton as the squad make up and club targets are completely different.

I hope people stop going on about Redknapp as if he were some kind of Super Manager who won us stuff and was The Best . He was good while he lasted and had his time and was ultimately unsuccessful as he had his eyes on bigger and better things and we moved on.
I remember him with fondness, but don't forget the bad things and the frustration.

In Redknapp's favour though I admit AVB was a huge failure, there's no doubt that Redknapp was a better Manager than AVB, and AVB had been helped by the presence of Bale and the fact that he hadn't started playing his own style - high line etc last season.

This season AVB showed us all how inadequate he is unless given EXACTLY his own cherry picked player.

Now we need a proven mature Manager, think a Redknapp with more tactical nous and commitment.
