Sherwood and Ramsey/Freund would of been easy to announce straight away i agree. But if Freund deciding to stay or go prob is delaying this.

I think that statement we released shows, we have been working on other options recently as well thou. This was on the cards.

We've grown as a club. You can't go from mid table to winning several trophies without first going up a level as a club. We've gone from regular mid table to regular top 4/5 which now puts us in a position to be challenging for trophies.

Agree with most of that, however that is mostly done behind the scenes and we need to back a manager for longer then just a couple of seasons if we are to take the final step.

This is the best Christmas present I could've asked for. Thankful I won't have to put up with that useless football week in week out and constantly be dissapointed with the starting lineups in the Europa League.

I've no idea who I want as manager and wouldn't have a clue where to start guessing, not my job.

All I know is I'm happy that mug has gone. he was pulling down our football club with his (lack of) knowledge of the English game and I for one began to hate watching us! We became a laughing stock and all the signs were there from the Wigan game last season. His stubborness knew no bounds and if we had stayed with him to the end of the season we would've all regretted it.

I'm putting my faith in the man with the cheque book as he has always shown he is ready to back the club to become successful. Come on you Spurs, onwards and upwards from here! Bring our Tottenham back!

I will be gutted if Freund goes. By all accounts he is a great coach and someone extremely passionate about our club, he needs to stay.

Chelsea also went for a manager that previously managed them, so i'm not sure why you're using that as an argument against consistency. The bottom 3 clubs have all changed their manager this season and don't seem to be faring any better. Last year QPR sacked Hughes and still got relegated despite spending.

Newcastle stuck with Pardew after a shit season and now look at them.

wow are you some kind of over emotional teenage girl. I didn't read any of that as him being a dick just putting a tweet saying he is having a good day. I bet you do well at not over reacting to situations.

I thought it was blatantly obvious what it was referring to and I consider it horribly unprofessional.

Capello - Don't want him and he has the WC, so he won't be coming in until at least the summer
Hiddink - Don't want someone for 6 months.
Sherwood - This is probably the worst possible option
Di Matteo - Come off it, do we need someone else who is wet behind the ears?
Hoddle/Jol - Have places in my heart for what they once did, but both are the wrong choice now

For me:
Martinez - No hope of us getting him, but would be my first choice. Was great at Swansea, worked miracles at Wigan and has now got Everton playing great football. Knows the Premier League. Unfortunately, he'd be mad to leave them for us.
De Boer - Likes attacking football and style. Realistic, but unproven on the larger scale and certainly in the Premier League. Probably our best chance to get a young manager with a brain.

And tottenham have changed manager every year despite spending ridiculous amounts of cash which have won nothing.

Arsenal have consistently been top 4 despite spending next to nothing year on year. Everton have rivaled us again spending next2nothing in comparison. Newcastle have had Pardew for 3 years, but the boards faith seems to be doing dividens. Can't really comment on the other managers because none of them have been at their respective clubs long enough.

I don't think there's a right or wrong approach, I'm just wary of the notion that sticking with a coach is the right thing to do because 'the clubs who do that are more successful'. Because that isn't true. It's a false notion. There are successful clubs who stick, and successful clubs who twist. And notably more of the latter.

I'd like Freund to step in as caretaker, do a fantastic job, get the permanent position and lead us all to glory!

Why wait to announce Sherwood. I think it's obvious we're still assessing other options.

So that Levy can create the illusion that's he's going for others but then just end up going with his own choice like he does with transfers

It's pretty obvious what Benny meant by his tweet, you only have to go back to yesterday where him and Ade posted a picture up of them at the game laughing and joking about the result. You're pretty naive if you think otherwise.

I love Freund, but he hasn't got the mental toughness yet to be our manager. He wants to be everyone's friend. He reminds me of Poyet when Ramos was in charge, love the bloke but needs to spend a couple of seasons in the lower leagues before getting a big job.

Hate to say it but the tactics were bizarre once again against the 'Pool and the Guardian noticed as well

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/15/tottenham-liverpool-tactical-analysis

Tottenham's André Villas-Boas is an architect of his own downfall
Tottenham's 5-0 hammering by Liverpool at White Hart Lane was a damning indictment of the Portuguese's tactical acumen
After the 6-0 thrashing away to Manchester City, André Villas-Boas significantly adjusted his strategy for the subsequent match, a 2-2 draw with Manchester United. His side played much deeper, with the midfielders protecting the defence keenly – Tottenham invited pressure, but denied space in behind and between the lines. Consequently, the defence was penetrated much less frequently.

Tottenham played high up the pitch with Luis Suárez and Jordan Henderson continually racing in behind the line. Illustration: Graphic
The strategy for this match, however, was a bizarre return to Villas-Boas's favoured high defensive line, which played perfectly into the hands of Luis Suárez and Liverpool. Villas-Boas has significant injury problems in defence, and Étienne Capoue and Michael Dawson is clearly not an ideal partnership. From an early stage it was clear they had no relationship together – they stepped up to play offside at different times, Capoue was never in a covering position when Dawson was bypassed, and Suárez was pulling both out of position. The centre-backs desperately needed protection, as Liverpool continually raced past them at will.

Liverpool's build-up play was occasionally superb, but when a simple long clearance from Martin Skrtel brought Hugo Lloris out of his penalty box and created a chance for Suárez, the extent of Spurs' problems became clear.

Suárez is the ideal striker to work the channels and break in behind, while Jordan Henderson's boundless energy also contributed – he made untracked runs in behind the defence for the first three goals, and encouraged Liverpool to play directly, important considering the cautious nature of Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen. Raheem Sterling continually took on Kyle Naughton down the outside, while Philippe Coutinho tucked inside to play simple passes.

It was astonishingly easy for Liverpool. The similarity to Spurs' previous thrashing is striking, and the fact Villas-Boas actively decided to return to the strategy that failed at City is a damning indictment of his tactical acumen.

There are some problems with this. Liverpool concentrated through the centre. AVB tried to counter this with Sandro. We couldn't rely on fullbacks to provide width which means our "wide-men" have to drift wide, giving henderson and co the space to do his thing. Honestly feel like AVB underestimated Liverpool with the high line. Probably should have started sigurdson, but idk.

Yeah, doubt he's ready yet, but still...

We need another motivator that the players can respect, not so much someone who focuses on the details.
Someone with unshakeable self belief.

If 'Arry's not viable I reckon we should go for Kanye West.
