To most football fans Hoddle and Souness would have come across, on this occasion, as not really knowing their stuff. Normally have a lot of respect for them both for their analysis of a football game but they don't really have a clue when it comes to the bigger picture of football management imho. King, VDV and Modric + Kaboul and Sandro missing for a massive chunk is undoubtably the spine of a triffic team. Regardless of where we finish I personally think we have overachieved and this is down to AVB' tactics and man management and Bale's stellar performances. Can't wait for next season. COYS!!

"I can't remember Tottenham having such a good group of players."

I've no time for Souness' punditry. Arsehole.
You mustn't blame him: he's part goldfish and part neanderthal. He wouldn't remember his name if they didn't introduce him at the start of the programme.

I, too, shouted at the TV, however I don't think pundits take injuries into the equation very much as all teams have injuries.
I thought Hoddle should have backed us up, and neither of them quoted that last season we fiished above Chelsea and how (very) much they have since improved their squad (Hazard, Oscar and Moses to name 3)

To be fair Hoddle did mention that holtby, dempsey, sig are not as good as last years team.
He also mentioned that we bought players, and when prompted as to who bought the players, he stated the manager bought the players but with the funds he had available to him.

Hoddle did defend avb to a point but the negativity from souness and the presenter overshadowed all that Hoddle said.

Don't Neg me too much but in the last couple of years I felt the deteriorating condition of Ledley's knees mean that you can't lump him in with VdV and Luka for him on pitch influence but in the dressing room I think he is missed

Ledley was brilliant for the first 4 months of last season, only when he got injured and decided to play through it did his performance drop off and so did our performance as a team. So he was a huge part of the heights of last year.
An ignoramus can see with the outgoings and injuries that our squad is nowhere as strong this season. Yet we are right there with 2 games to go

It also really irks me that the media yammer on about how much money we have spent, ignoring that the bulk of it was recouped by some massive outgoings

There's one point that nobody seems to have mentioned. We can argue about the relative merits of our squad this year and last, but we do not play in a vacuum. We only need three points from the next two games to match our points total from last year. AVB and the team have achieved that despite facing an improved Everton, a considerably improved Liverpool (who spent loads), and Chelsea, who spent gazillions yet again. All three of whom have already gained more points than they did last season.

I think last years squad was the best we've had in 30 years - not even taking into account our injuries this year. On top of that, we've relied ALL season on 2 strikers, one of whom has been MIA. We still have a good chance to finish with our highest point total ever in the prem. I dont know how anybody can not respect the job AVB has done.

Souness is an idiot and totally wrong, but even so couldn't and shouldn't he make the same point about Harry at QPR? They would still be in the relegation zone if the season started with Harry's first match, so why did they sack Hughes? Retarded argument but it still works against their agenda.

Hoddle started laughing at that.
Hoddle was sat at Levy table on Tuesday night. He was never going to mention the chairman signed the players it was easier to talk about signing AVB and the stadium money.

Always makes me laugh how Harry got us to the top 4 with a squad that wasn't as good as the top 4 teams, yet all of a sudden somehow AVB has inherited a top 4 squad from him and is under achieving.

I think people don't realize how much we're missing a creative midfield player. We really don't have any at all. Chelsea have Mata, Hazard, and Oscar, while Arsenal have Cazorla and Wilshere. It makes a big difference. Lennon and Bale are the players who need to receive passes from midfield, not be the ones making them. The system AVB is implementing works, we just need a player that ties everything together for us and you'll all see how well it works imo.

If Tightwad Levy had bought Moutinho last summer we would have been out of sight by now. Totally fucked up in the transfer window but AVB's done a great job with what he's got. Next summer we have to make the right signings (IE give AVB control of transfers).

Fuck em both, we know we have a a decent nucleus, what we dont have is a decent ball playing midfielder. I hate myself for saying it but id take modric back on a heartbeat. Hopefully some dead wood will be on its way too..

AVB has done well as so many posters have outlined. If you are a pundit you are meant to know the injury status of a team etc. Thats your bloody job and if you dont know then you are not in a position to comment. That simple. Souness needs to brush up on his knowledge of clubs.

AVB hasn't even had the chance to play his best team from the current squad at all this season;

Lloris

Walker
Kaboul
Verts
BAE

Sandro
Dembele
Siggy

Lennon
Ade
Bale

Yes other teams have injuries, but surely they've been full strength at some occasion during the season, we haven't, not once!

watched it in a little bit of astonishment tbh especially at Hoddle, he seemed to have absolutely no insight into the club apart from
what he has read in the Sun ....... AVB has done a great job in my opinion with what he has been given, the fault lies with Levy his continual recirculating of transfers fees in with transfer fees paid out whilst siphoning off savings every time so the pot gets ever smaller will not allow AVB to truly compete beyond where he has us now.

Modric, VdV and King leaving. Kaboul out for all of the season. Sandro out for half of the season. Dembele injured every now and then. Our best striker not recovering from injury and having a hard time finding form. Chairman not backing our new manager.

- Yeah, it's AVBs fault...

This .

Chelsea paid about £25m for him and he's starting to look as much of a bargain as Drogba .

Hoddle , legend though he was as a player , has become a complete phallus .
