And, the worst part is, I can say 'I hope Levy acts quickly and early and learns from this Summer.' But then I realize he does it to himself every time so why should it change now?

To be quite honest, I wish Dempsey never happened and we would have taken a portion of that money and put it to Moutinho. We'd be much better off as a club right now.

I just don't want us to become Arsenal of the last decade, selling off our best talent and settling for what is left over. Sadly, I see a trend starting to form :poop:

It's scary. I think the first thing to address is the scouting department. We've got to find these guys when they are young. Big clubs have the opportunity to be lazy and wait for guys to hit their prime and then dropping big bucks on them. if we do that, we are instantly outmatched. We need to find these guys before the shitstains of the PL (Chelsea) get wind of them. Hell, I consider AVB to be a good judge of talent, I'm sure he can find some young guys. We really fucked up not going for Isco this summer, though.

Moutinho, Willian, Remy/Damiao/llorente/hunterlaar/cardozo hell i might even be happy with Carrol at this rate, least he would touch the ball more 3 times per match and bring the midfield into play!!

if Levy could get those 2 and 1 of those then I believe everything would click. It would probably cost in the region of 60 million so obviously no chance of that happening even though we made a ton of money in the summer

AVB will be offered damien duff if he is lucky

We need a DoF and some scouts in post first, before we get onto the scouting

We already are the arsenal of the last decade, just minus the quality football for most of it.

We could really set ourselves up decently for a ‘Tale of 2 Halves’ season when you look at how it shapes up once February comes around: West Brom (A), Newcastle (H), West Ham (A), Arsenal (H), Liverpool (A), Fulham (H), Swansea (A), Everton (H), Chelsea (A), Man City (H), Wigan (A), Southampton (H), Stoke (H), Sunderland (H)

Looking at those matches, there’s a lot of points to be won in that set. If we can stay afloat and lurk in that 4-6 range on the table until this point, and if there’s no other huge injuries, we could set ourselves up nicely for a fantastic finish.
I like, and share, your optimism.

If quality is available in Jan then great.
Don't doubt that Jan is quality, as we'll see even more when Benny's back and he can revert to his favoured position.

if we buy a willian type player it does make you wonder what the point of signing Sig and Dempsey was, they are figthing for one place anyway, both are decent but not as good as the player we sold who from memory played in exactly the same positon:whistle:

Very rare for a manager to say he actually needs signings, doesn't want to upset the apple cart and all that.

Mind games surely. Admitting in a post-match press conference that we need reinforcements would only exacerbate the confidence issues that will result from today's game. A blind man can see that we're in desperate need of creativity in midfield.
Agree, i think we need to go all out for Moutinho. He would be a crucial player for us right now.

After selling Hulk for a big chunk, they are not going to let Moutiho go for Levy prices. Be shocked if this were to happen.

If we have a chance of signing that Ajax lad Alderweireld we should.

Intelligent ball players from the back will help us play that attractive, attacking, possession keeping football we all want us too.

Naughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Kaboul, BAE Alderweireld and to a lesser extent Kyle Walker.

You could be right. We really are short on both a back-up to Dembele and an AM. Either one of this, if top class enough, would be great signings for us.

Either Levy spends some money in Jan or he doesn't. If he doesn't he needs to be honest. We simply don't have it/we need to hold it back for further stadium biz. He simply can't hang AVB out to dry with the fans again.

Levy runs the club and ultimately sets the agenda. The decimation of the midfield doesn't tally with one of immediate top 4 pushes. Fair enough if the finances dictate that for now. Come out and tell the fans that then. Sure some might throw a strop and you'll lose a few quid but this disconnect isn't going to help AVB otherwise and ultimately the team we do put out every week.

So man up, Daniel, whichever way it is.

Agree with this. Every single word, and have been saying it for ages. I don't expect us to go out throwing 70 million around, but Levy has effectively shafted each of his last four managers, with his transfer window brinkmanship and book balancing. Feel really sorry for AVB, although I'm also far from convinced he was the right choice at the right time. After Harry we needed an experienced and disciplined tactical genius to get the best out of a pretty good squad. What we did was take an impulsive punt on a far from experienced coach and dangerously imbalance the squad again with a game of deadline day musical chairs. Still, at least we made a good profit on Van Der Vaart...

It's not the best for squad morale if you say "yeah we need some more players," even though he'd be right.

If we don't get another playmaking CM or maybe 10 and someone else I'll be shocked.
Get ready...

Also, your first statement is fluffy. Managers don't build squads off of the sensitivity of their players, most managers - chairmen permitting- get what they need, because if they don't get what they need their job is likely to be very short...which is what AVB needs to wise-up to as Levy is not shy when it comes to wielding the scythe.

hopefully avb will be gone by january.

levy will do what he wants anyway in january.. he will wait till 30th january when we are knocked out of all cups and make some bullshit excuse that a 10 million deal for llorente or some big player in the news around then didnt come off but they tried type talk.

quicker some middle eastern money men come the better. rip that club up from top to bottom and start again. too many people on easy street with little ambition or motivation.

He said that because he knows he won't get much. He's not going to say anything against the way of his boss.
