We're just unlucky that the name of the club starts with the letter T so we always start near the bottom of the table. I suppose at least that means the only way is (hopefully) up for us from the start of the season. The only way for Arsenal is down. :)

Jol's fault!

...Sorry couldn't help it!

I believe he was still in charge on the only occasion in which we were in the top ten.

Presumably it's also his fault that having got to eleventh by the end of December, we've stayed flatlined there, despite spending over £20m on players in January. I suppose it's also his fault that we only managed 11 points from the last 10 games, barely any better than the first 10.

I don't know whether we've been in the top half or not, but regardless we should remember that if you have a bad start it doesn't matter how well you do after that it's not going to be reflected straight away. There was probably a period, in the winter, where we were in the top 4 on form, but the table doesn't ignore what happened in the autumn

As someone mentioned, the key is getting off to a good start. If you start well you've got confidence and high morale and can work with that. Part of a good start is good fixtures, which we haven't had in the last two years. Also the team needs to be ready from day 1, which is hard when you have 5 new players each August.

We are: 5/2, that pair are 7/2.

Remember that odds aren't always a reflection of the likelihood of something happening. If a lot of people are putting money on something the odds will go down so the bookie doesn't lose a fortune if everyone wins.

would prefer we were not considered "faves" to challenge the big four

i seem to remember us climbing into the top 10 after derby at home too

Just had a look on a Tottenham Mad. We were ninth after the Derby game but Ar5na1, Blackburn and Liverpool had all played just one game, for whatever reason.

Expect nothing else from me SS
Wasn't his biggest fan and because I've been away from SC a while... well; couldn't help it.

Not sure it was anyone's fault in the end. The players aren't good enough to carry out the 'godfather's' instructions and in turn he knew it.
Clean slate now.

I PREDICT we will be top 6 after the first 3 games next year and we'll go no lower than 8th at anytime... finishing (dare I say it) 4th*

Dare we dare? We are well overdue a top 4 spot (we are because we are! lol) but I find myself reserving judgment until after the Euro 08 is finished and Modric is safe and sound....and 'raring to go'. We SHOULD be a power...and why not. We have 'nearly' held our own this year....and the addition of a few more solid players (hopefully!) will enable us to go places. Who's CL position shall we take? Loverpool, Asrehill....Vetsville....or, dare I dream....Manure? I don't care as long as we get to our intended destination (though wouldn't it be COOL to play and beat Manure at Old Tranny, in the first couple of weeks of the season.....wind out of the sails! The things of dreams COYS!

Sorry if posted before, but we went through a whole season without being in the top half according to skysports!

That is piss poor

We really need a good start to next season otherwise we will be well off the pace for fifth or better, as this season has proved (and lets hope we dont have any undermining of the management team just as we are starting the season, which never helps anyone )

Sack the manager!?
