Doubt that he's the life of the party, though (that would be Gio, apparently)

Nah, there's no way Gio is the life of the party, he's the annoying drunk chick, who's quite hot and alrite, but turns into a complete arse after a pint and keeps trying to fuck anything that moves, then stumbling out of the club and throwing up in a taxi...

That's how I see it anyway

Three words that depress me even more than the wife saying I'm pregnant again. BENOIT ASSOU EKOTTO. I will go on record and say, I don't like him, I don't rate him, never have and unless he improves his positioning, never will. He always lets the attacker cross, get caught out of position after his raids upfield, his tackling is suspect as is his concentration and I just don't like him.

Obviously if he scores the winer on saturady or marks Ronaldo out of the game I'll think he's the dogs testes. Cause I'm a Yid and I'm fickle. Like the rest of you.

I was a critic. He has impressed me in the last 2-3 weeks but lets see if it continues. And if it does hasn't he said he wants to leave anyway? Not getting too excited.

I think part of it was also the shoddy treatment of Lee - the best left back we've had in over a decade. In his place was someone who posed, pouted, never tracked back and appeared not to give a shit.

BAE - ain't that a criminal offence?

Dare I say I have posted frequently that basing an appraisal of a young player in a foreign country who played only a few games before injury was, at best, somewhet previous - and that, therefore, to castigate him as crap, as some on here (you know who you are) did was lunacy:evil:

Fair play Kendall :)

Anyone else ?

yep can back Kendall up on that :)

I thought we needed another LB over the summer - Kendall said nope we're sorted or words to that effect

I have to say, though I've been surprised and delighted by BAE's upsurge in form, I still think we need another LB as one decent one isn't enough

(please don't say Bale to me :) - well ok say Bale - I can't be bothered to argue I just disagree in advance - I'm talking about this season not some possible future)

interesting we're linked with Warnock - good buy I reckon if etc blah blah

I think BAE is doing just enough to get by as our LB. He's alright - not setting the world alight but not disappointing (unlike Bentley).

He has consistently delivered good crosses. That's about all I notice in his game. Apart from this he doesn't seem to stand out in any other way.

Similar to Bale - who only stands out for pace and ability to beat a man.

Is dribbling/pace more important than a cross?

No, it's not all about pace, dribbling and crossing. Not all full-backs are Dani Alves. Just look at Corluka. He doesn't have pace and isn't a great crosser of the ball (or maybe he is, he rarely crosses the ball) but his involvement in attack is great. He supports Lennon greatly, is good with the ball, and always seems to find a player and when forward he kinda lurks around like an extra midfielder.

his positional play is really suspect, he also loses his man alot, and also makes some really rash decisions when it comes to tackling or staying on his feet... Despite making an improvement the last couple of weeks he is definitely the weakest link in our side... We should all support him but lets not go too far with the praise

Spot on. He has defo improved and is probably playing his best footy in a Spurs shirt BUT if you watch him closely he does switch off at times and he IS sometimes suspect positionally. Summink he used to do but seems to do less now (thank God) is go to ground and dive into challenges far too eagerly. Maybe he's been told or is learning from Ledders et al but he stays on his feet longer and waits for the attacker to make the first move.

On the plus side his use of the ball is currently good, he has a nice little dummy to swing inside his opponent and he does put some good crosses in. He's also a tenacious little fucker which with his new found timing in the tackle makes for a good combination.

Having said all that I expect Man Yoo to target him as a weakness come Saturday. Let's hope he's up to the job.

we may be better off playing someone like O'Hara at left back against man u with Lennon infront of him providing cover... As Ronaldo may well destroy him and any confidence he is building

Ramos played O'Hara against Ronaldo and it largely paid off. There's no reason, however, that BAE shouldn't be able to handle him equally well—if he gets done a couple of times, well, he won't be the first LB who's been done by him, and he won't be the last. And Redknapp dropping him because, 'We don't fink you're up to it, son, so we're giving Jamie a go' is really going to do a shitload for his confidence, isn't it?

One other positive about BAE—he's intercepted more balls than anyone else in the squad, which surely has to be a plus. I agree with Steve; there's room for improvement in several areas—his positioning remains suspect at times and he still has those moments where he appears to think he's back in France and has all the time in the world, but he's hardly alone in that—but on the whole I don't think there's too much to complain about, especially if he continues to get better.

I miss Leapy—but recalling the shit he used to get on here, I do wonder about the mentality of some our members.

Dropping him will also destroy his confidence as it will mean that the manager has no faith in his defensive abilities to stop ronaldo. So its a no win situation.

I dont think we should think too much about stopping ronaldo, ofcourse we need to eliminate his threat, but if we go overboard on stopping him, then man utd are more then capable of punishing us in other areas of the pitch that are obviously equally as important.

Most of the players in their team can swing the game to be honest, so lets just focus on making sure we are the team that they should be worried about and we are the ones causing problems

He deffinatly is a good player but wheter he will be great is another matter. I believe there is a article around by his brother irc, that he was rold how good he is by someone in france and told he could make it as a pro footballer but said he isnt really intrested in football, he just plays for the money.
Sad if true.

Have to say I have been impressed by him as did not rate him at all last season or the start of this season. Still dont think he is that good defensively sometimes gets caught the wrong side still quite alot, but I prefer him than Bale!!! I think he is good on the ball and actually puts in some decent crosses.

not convinced yet but its still early days and like others have stated he's young and the way he is rapidly improving his game has got to be a positive sign. As 4 bale he is & obvious talent but he needs to start showing it, he's to lightweight and for someone that has a fantastic left peg he delivers awful crosses. love Bale want to see him play but for the time being will quite happly watch BAE progress....

I thought he was excellent again yesterday and is getting better and better.

BAE's crosses are a bit random atm, I'd like him to be more consistent attacking-wise and he still backs off a bit too much when defending which lets them get in more crosses. But he's much improved and I no longer consider him a weak link in our defense, not a small task when Modric's roaming around in front of him.

he's already said he's happy and enjoying life playing at the moment, especially after the injury - must've been a low point for him
