Genuine question, what job as he done? Apart from Lamela the targets have been on our radar for sometime, especially Soldado.
If he is getting credit for negotiating I'm pretty confident Levy could have done it. I just still see the figure of Levy and to a lesser extent Sherwood, looming over everything.

For the first time in many summer we had a coherent direction at least. And the calibre of the signings, without CL football to offer, means I have to give him some credit. Probably just my own personal bias there and if you feel differently then fair enough. It would be disingenuous to ignore AVB's presence as well for some of the signings most probably.

It was the coherence of our plan though. Less of the signing 18 LBs in one window shenanigans etc.

Wouldn't disagree with you about DL and Sherwood. I'd imagine Baldini might get bored if all he is moving on is chief negotiator. He'll have other offers and if he is still just a DoF in name but not practice he might decide to move on.

I'm actually liking what I've read about Yakin, sounds like a manager who gets the basics right and the football entertaining, good balance.
So he doesn't speak English, bit of a hiccup, but with a stint in German football, I'm sure our German speakers can help him adjust.
Ultimately, who else out there can we be looking at. The big names we'd love are mostly at clubs they wouldn't want to leave for us. For all we do remain a historic glamour club, the current circus that goes hand in have with the top job must be off putting if they are already settled elsewhere.
I actually think our squad is more than good enough, maybe just needs a little fine tuning in terms of depth at LB etc, also CD at the minute. I like the work Baldini did, next step for him is to help secure the right manager, maybe one or two adjustments at the managers request, then get back to the job of scouting youngsters as he was rumoured to be doing.
