Bale: left back or left mid?

I know there was a thread before, but after his performances this season at LW i thought some people might have changed their opinions... still a LB for me with our crowded midfield though :shrug:

Ahem, left midfield at the moment as he's doing rather jolly well there at the moment.

Doesn't this depend on the outcome of the formation poll? what if we only play 3 at the back? Maybe there shoud be a left wingback option?

What I saw during the wigan game when bale slotted into LB didn't please me.. maybe it was because we were chasing the game, but still it's LM for me. Especially as in a 451 I can see him scoring loads.

As a rule, full back, in certain games when we go a little defensive then Lm but I still see him as an attacking full back.

At lb hes supplementing the attack, hes an extra problem for the oppsition to think about, at left midfield, the full back and wide midfieder can double up on him, they cant do that when hes at left back cause theres some1 infront of him for them to worry about.
Also from full back hes got room to run into, rather than trying to beat some1 from a standstill.

hmm good point... however I am banking on that 3 at the back won't win! If it does end up being 3 at the back then I will have to put him in midfield anyway.

Are you Graham Poll?
I prefer him as LB because I believe he can bring what he offers at LW from LB too. But it all depends on who we have available and who we are playing. I'd definately play him at LB against Bus parking sides.

For now, left midfield. We have scored 8 goals this season, Bale has scored 2 and assisted 5 of them, would we have seen the same production had he been playing at left back? No imo.

Benoit is still the better defender too, Rodallega wouldn't have scored if Benoit was still on the pitch last saturday, where was Bale exactly?

Bale at Left Midfield all day long for me. He's wasted at left back, plus he isnt the best defender. Ekotto is alot better at LB and is a very under-rated.

Bale wouldnt be the half the player he is now if he was playing left back week in, week out.

LOL I started the last one about 3 weeks ago and suffered the same brickbats... that said this might have been a bit soon for a new one as there hasn't been a single match since the last page of comments were left on it!
