Aye, quite interesting that. Especially if someone knew how many of those 99 games were utterly wasted at LB.

And how many more assists and goals Bale would of had if he had the strikers United had when Ronaldo was there instead of Crouch and Pav!

They were not utterly wasted.

You wanted him played on the wing and you got your way, and he has been fantastic (for the record I always said he would be a great winger), but a lot of the goals he scored he scored from a full-back position - like, for instance, two of his hat-trick at the San Siro.

He also had some very good performances and some decent goals from left-back.

He is a great player - if he was playing left-back right now he would still be scoring great goals and getting plaudits, and the winger who played that position in his stead would be contributing as well.

But, I suppose, you are one of those who imagines that when a team like Barca wants to buy him, with a view to playing him at full-back, it is because they are completely and utterly retarded and you understand football better than them.

You don't. He is a great left-footed player who would thrive at full-back just as he thrives on the wing. At which one he thrives at the most, when and where that would even be quantifiable, is a matter of choice - at neither position would he be utterly wasted.

And to think he didn't win in his first 24 games as a Spurs player. I don't know how many of them were league games, but I think it'd be fair to guess 20.

Wow, quite a response there. Barca want to buy him to replace Dani Alves? He might see some time in the front 3 methinks. All just opinions.

Anyhoo, as we both agree, he's a fantastic LWer and with Benny at LB, playing him there for us would be an utter waste of THFC's resources.

As for the passive aggressive nonsense about football knowledge, you can keep it. Not interested in dick waving. Enjoy.

Look, don't know if this has been covered before, but Bale is quite simply, not a left-back.

He can quit the Ronaldo dives and strops though... ;-)

He'll be alright.

Interesting stats (assuming not fake).

I remember a similar stat that showed Nani had a better goals/assists ratio at 24 (I think) that Ronaldo had by the same age.

Ronaldo has followed up with some formidable goalscoring stats since though. I think Bale will continue to provide more than Ronaldo though because Ronaldo is not a great team player.

Whatever you think about Ronaldo, he's probably the most dedicated player in the game today

He puts an insane amount of work in to his training regimes, including something crazy like 1000 sit-ups a day!

Ronaldo always had the talent, but he's got the desire and professionalism to go with it
