Bale's ball hogging

No, I do not want Bale to be sold and I do appreciate his contribution to day - by always occupying at least 2 players whenever he gets the ball - but his ball hogging to day was terrible for team spirit. In the later part of the 2nd half he decided to for goal on 2 occasions when he SHOULD have passed the ball to much better placed players. One was 7-8 meters out when he took a shoot when Dempsey was near by and would have been clean through from 5-6 meters (at 1-1) and the second came from a run when Siggi was wide open on the other side but Bale went for a shoot (ok, Spurs were up 2-1 by then, but still). Plus, he went for a shoot when Jan was well positioned - and Bale had no chance to make a straight shoot - and thus distracted him enough to make it go far wide.
Bale no doubt is a world class player but he MUST pass to better placed players as this team is also bigger than any player, including Bale. Being selfish/"greedy" at times I don't mind, as he's show can can score "impossible" goals, but there are limits for how "greedy" even the best players should be; and to day Bale went beyond his "greed limits" even for a star player.
It will make him even a better player, and harder to mark - as he becomes more unpredictable - if start to pass the ball smarter...

I counted 2 occasions when he could've passed to Dempsey and once at the end when he could've passed to Siggy. The thing is, he's quality and our biggest goal threat. Any good striker we may buy in would do exactly the same and rarely does a player with that much confidence and ability lay those off to a team mate. If any of those had've gone it he'd be a hero.

In other words, Bale have the right to distrust the goal scoring skills of Dempsey, Siggi and Jan by ignoring them when they're much better placed?
That really buds well for team spirit in future games apparently....

He's been a selfish player for about 2 years now. As long as he keeps scoring I don't see it being an issue, but I can certainly understand why Ade was getting so pissed off with him earlier in the season.

We won so I guess we have to find something to be angry about?

You obviously know very little about team spirit then. Prevention is better than cure. To day Bale upset 3 players (and they made no secret about it in full view of the audience) - Dempsey, Siggi, Jan - who were much better placed.
Well, for you maybe Bale is a "holy cow" but for me he still has to play for the team and pass the ball when a player's in a much better position. And that would make him an even better player. If he keep being "greedy" it's much easier to figure him out.
But that's obvious passed by you.

The super stars - like Ronaldo and Messi - are selfish too yes, while the master minds - like Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo - and known for their eye for well placed team mates.... but even the super stars know their limits and if they're too selfish it affect team spirit.

There is being greedy and there is being greedy, today Bale was the bad kind of greedy. Especially at the end, if he'd played in Glyfi we would have more than likely got a third goal

I'm saying he has the right to go for it and shoot. He's the best goalscorer in our team and the highest midfield goalscorer in the league. He's the only player we have that can truly be called world class and changes games.

I was disappointed that he missed more than not passing because I know he can finish those chances. Although I do agree that when you've had a few quiet games maybe it's best to lay the ball off a bit more. But the flipside is if he doesn't do that and goes on to score a couple he'll get that confidence and form back up to being sky high.

Some people are never feckin happy. Shakes head

This was NOT the last Spurs game, if you didn't know it. And I see you have no understand of what's going on behind the scene. Why do you think Zlatan (ok an extreme example) hardly last more than 2 seasons in any club despite of his contribution?
The major reason why Fergie was successful was because he always emphasized team spirit, team spirit, team spirit. And nipped out in the bud any budding problem. And if Bale keep ignoring much better placed team mates it will affect team spirit.

I'd certainly prefer it if Bale was more of a team player, but to be perfectly honest if he wanted to change the club badge to a picture of his face I'd probably go along with it right now.

He's very different to Adebayor in that respect. When Ade is at his best he's a proper team player. That performance against Newcastle last season was a perfect example of someone playing for the team rather than themselves.

Still....Bale has a long way to go before he reaches the levels of selfishness exhibited by Defoe.
