Bale was a great player for us but I don't think he ever made a secret of the fact that he wanted to move to a big team abroad one day.

I know he acted like a bit of a shit not turning up to training in his last few days here but in the grand scheme of things that hardly matters really.

But its pointless comparing modern day players to their counterparts from decades before. The game is no longer that, it's a business.
The culture of footballers revolves mainly around money and while that may seem distasteful to us mere mortals can you really blame them? One injury and that's it = scrapheap.

I am lucky to have seen him play in a Spurs shirt, now he's gone. Good luck to him.
Now, more importantly, we can concentrate on our team.

Seems a shame that one of the greatest players of a generation played for us, provided us with some wonderful memories, and all we can do is look for reasons to disown him.
